“BEWARE OF OVERCROWDING”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

I have been to the Top of the Rock twice, once a couple years ago in the fall and most recently on July 7th. When I was there a couple years ago we were able to get up to the top fairly quickly and roam around freely. It was a nice experience and the views are obviously awesome.

The problem with the most recent visit is that they just keep sending people up without any regard for overcrowding. On almost every level you were elbow to elbow with people and everyone was of course fighting for a good spot to take photos from and once people go to that spot they pretty much set up camp.

The other problem with this night was a storm was a brewin off in the distance. Once we finally made it to the top the security team began yelling for people to clear the deck. Well, now it was a mob scene trying to get down off the top deck. The lines to get on the elevators to get back down to ground level were longer then an amusement park with a new ride. And, as we were heading down they were of course still sending large groups of people up. Shameful!

None the less, you don’t have many other opportunities to experience views like this. There is the empire state building but word on the street is that the experience there is tight as well. So unless you hit a rooftop bar like they have at the Refinery Hotel I guess you will just have to live with overcrowding.

“Dear but great!”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

54 dollars for 2 people but well worth it! We went at night which was class to see the lights, however, I would recommend to go at dusk to get a better view as central park was a big black blob at night time!

“Great views of city”
Reviewed July 23, 2013 via mobile

Top of the Rock was a great place to see a good view and get great pictures of the city. We had passes from grayling tours and didn't have to wait in line at all. The staff was friendly and funny and the experience was great. I would recommend going in the evening. I think the views of the city and sunset and night are the best.

“Great View!”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Top of the Rock provides a great view of the city and Central Park, as well as a great view of the Empire State Building. Be sure to look up in the elevator going to the top. If you have a wait for your ticket time, there are shops inside Rockefeller Center to look around or grab a bite to eat.
