“Perfect Vantage Point!”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

We chose a brilliant sunny day to go up to the Top of the Rock. From way, way up - 67th to 69th floors - we could see across Central Park, past the East and Hudson Rivers and beyond. The higher up we went, the better the view! The View Finder Map ($3) which we bought with our entry tickets was very helpful to identify the buildings & landmarks we could see from this vantage point.

“View From 30 Rock”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

This is a great observation deck because the very top is completely unobstructed. Even the deck a few feet below it has an innovative solution to picture-taking - plexiglass barriers with gaps in between, just wide-enough to stick your camera lens through. The views in both directions are incredible, especially of the ESB and Chrysler Building. Access and lines are easy if you have your ticket in advance.

“Great view, and cheaper than the Empire State Building”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

The view from the Top of the Rock is amazing. The Empire State Building is still taller but you cannot take pictures of the ESB if you are standing on top of it! Rockefeller Center also gives you a better, albeit not perfect, view of Central Park.

I visited the tower in late April, meaning I was there before all the summer tourists, and I can only imagine how crowded it is in the summer. My advice is to visit the tower either right after it opens or after the sun has set.

I still do not know if I should feel ripped of by the hefty cost to take the elevator. A trip to the top costs $27 but I bought the Sun & Stars package for $40. This entitles you to a second elevator ride the same day, or the next day according to the woman behind the ticket counter. This gives you the opportunity to, for example, see the city from above both in full daylight and after the sun has set. Since I like photography I found this to be a decent deal, and even though it is still quite a lot of money for an elevator ride it is still cheaper than the Empire State Building.

“Fantastic view over Manhattan”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Great view over New York. We chose the top of the rock rather than Empire State because you can see the Empire State from the Top of the Rock.

We did the Sun and Stars tickets to see New York during the day and night which i would recommend

“Better the the Empire State Building view”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

We were lucky to get here early enough to not have to wait in line for 2 hours. The views are simply amazing a must while in the city.
