The Top of the Rock Observation Deck is fantastic. The visit structure is different from the Empire State Building in that you buy timed tickets (similar to a Fast Pass at a theme park). You arrive during your designated time and therefore, there aren't huge crowds. We purchased our tickets online before arriving in NYC, that seemed to work out just fine for us. The views are awesome, again slightly different than the Empire State Building, but equally as impressive. Even though you aren't as high up as the Empire State Building, you can see it from Top of the Rock as well as Central Park. There are 3 levels of observation decks included in the price of admission as well, which gives you a more bang for your buck feeling!
