“Busy, well-equipped, good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013

I stay at this hotel often for business travel to NYC since it's close to our company's office there. It can get fairly busy with tourists, but the rooms are quite large for a NYC hotel and it really has everything a traveler would need. Friendly staff, free breakfast and wi-fi, and close to all the sites.

Room Tip: Ask for a room amidst higher floors for less street noise. Views of Empire State Building and Bryant...

We normally stay right on Times Square, however, we got a nice rate at the Residence Inn so gave it a shot. Certainly nice to have the loaded kitchen and larger room than a stardard hotel room...however, the view from our room was dissappointing - basically a small window in an alley. Even though this hotel is not in the center of the action like in Times Square, we were pleasantly surprised with the neighborhood, espeically Bryan Park.

Hello trekking_round,

Thank you for choosing our hotel right near Time Square this stay rather than right in the middle of time square. It is great to hear you enjoyed this location. Being in the center of midtown most of our hotel rooms have a wonderful view of the city, but sometimes with the high-rise buildings near some rooms have a little obstruction of a view. Next time you come please reach out to me I will make sure to get you in a nice view room!

We booked a Bryant Park view room on one of the top floors. Very spacious room with a kitchenette, all necessary things for a 4-night stay. Room was ok, noiseless (over 42nd Street), with, let's say, partial view on the Bryant Park. Staff was very friendly and the breakfast was served in a armchair room ambiance. Not very big choice of food, but OK. For those who seek good standard close to the Times Square it's one of the best options. Recommendable.

Room Tip: Top floors, Bryant Park view

Our first trip to NYC and was not at all sure of where to stay. Somehow weI landed in the reviews of this hotel. We liked that there was free wi-fi and a complimentary breakfast. We LOVED the location!! It was close to EVERYTHING!!!! ICannot imagine staying anywhere else. The staff was quiet but very helpful, especially the concierge. We would ask for places to eat and go and she had great ideas. Our room faced north and we loved the view. The morning breakfast was nice and it was great so as not to have to worrry on where to find food. The best kept secret is the happy hour at the bar/ lounge in the later evening. Half-price! Our bartender...........SHE was wonderful!! We had a king room with a pull out couch and there was so much space! We cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: Tell them it's your first trip to NYC

Hello Shortnik6,
Thank you for reviewing my hotel for potential customers. It is great to hear you enjoyed the hotels convenient location near Bryant Park and steps away from the hustle bustle Time Square. Studio 100 located on the 3rd floor is a great place to enjoy a great happy hour. The friendly staff and the excellent city view makes the experience that much better. I stayed at this Residence Inn with my two sisters. We loved the location. It was easy walking distance to many of the tourist attractions and shopping. The room was a good size with a full kitchen. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and thought it was a very good deal. The free wi-fi is also a plus. The staff was helpful and we felt safe with a staff member checking your room key to enter the elevators. We would stay here again and highly recommend it.

Mary P,

Thank you for your wonderful review of my hotel for potential visitors. Being a hotel in NYC you can never be to secure, so it is nice to have the security guard checking room keys. We look forward to you staying with us again. Let me know when you visit again and we can get you a great room.

It's confusing (and perhaps self-limiting) why this excellent hotel just south of Bryant Park is called the Residence Inn Times Square. Yes it's close to Times Square but if you don't like walking out your hotel's front door into the hustlers, tourists and sales-people of Times Square, then Bryant Park is the place to be. So it's tops for location. And it's also very good value for money. The room we shared was big by NYC standards and had a kitchen with sink, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. There was a counter for food prep and for eating, with two stools. The room was quiet from street noise on the 20th floor but a small air conditioning vent over the bed let in the noise of our neighbors' arguing at night. A wad of wet paper towel solved that problem. Our room came with breakfast included -- Warning: Go early or you'll have no place to eat comfortably (tho' you can take your breakfast back to your room). The staff are pleasant and when I return to NYC, I'll be back at the Residence Inn.

Room Tip: I'd guess that the higher you are, the less noise there will be from the streets; it's on 6t...

Hello Ted G,

I would have to agree with your statement of our hotel name not being in the center of Time Square, but you are right with how great the Bryant Park location is. Just away from the hustle and bustle but walking distance to everything you would want to see! I am happy to hear you enjoyed the spacious rooms and will return to stay with us again!

My husband and I stayed at this location with our 2 children. The very nice things about this hotel are: room size (huge), quiet rooms, full kitchen included (larger than some of my friends' NYC apartments), full breakfast included with pretty good food as these things go, free Wifi.
The staff is very helpful and the location could not be more central. 1 block from Times Square and several subway lines.
The negatives are minor but worth mentioning. First, the bathrooms are quite small but given the size of the room, a worthy trade off. Second, there are some cheesy tourist shops (suitcases, random electronics etc) facing the lobby, leading to a bit of a tourist bus feel. Third, it is a crowded and busy hotel, quite unlike the two Marriott Courtyards located within 3-5 blocks of this hotel and where we normally stay. Finally, do NOT let the random guy in front of the hotel hail a cab for you. He expects a tip and is not related to the hotel. Similarly, the cabbies in front will not drive you -- despite the fact it is illegal to refuse service based on destination -- unless you are headed to one of the airports.

Hello CMK43,

Thank you for reviewing my hotel for potential visitors at the Residence Inn Time Square. I have to agree with you about the rooms being larger than NYC apartments I know it is bigger than mine! The complimentary breakfast and wi-fi is always a plus when looking for a hotel. Depending on the room type the bathrooms range in size. Next time you come we will have to make sure to get you and your family a bigger bathroom!
