“Fantastic accomodation after first impression uncertainty.”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

I was underwhelmed when I arrived in the foyer, it was small and very busy with limited seating and I could not check in until 4pm. I was not feeling the love as was tired and grubby. But I rallied and had a very busy day out and about in NYC, walking here, there and everywhere. I was tired so had an early dinner and decided to head back to the hotel at 7. I got a bit lost but found it and got my bag out of storage, hopped in the lift and found my room. It was not a room, it was a suite!!!! Huge lounge area, kitchen with full kitchen facilities, massive bed, massive tv that rotated so you could watch it from the sofa or the bed. there was a big bathroom with a bath and a shower. I did a little dance of joy for quite a long time, after all there was lots of room to dance about in. All this for $100 a night including breakfast! I slept like a log, the black out curtains worked a treat and the noise level was minimal.
Breakfast was on the third floor in a large shared area, it was organised much like an old style gentleman's club with a a variety of seating options and nooks and crannys and books and things around. Newspapers were provided and masses of food. Cooked options, cereals, fruit, toast, bagels, yog and more. I could not decide between eggs benedict or pancakes... so had both!!!!!!
I could not fault the room or the breakfast! The location was so handy. It was the perfect spot for a solo traveler to feel safe and be central.

Hello NZJanet,

Thank you for your great descriptive review of my hotel. It is nice to hear you enjoyed the spacious guest rooms with the many amenities that the rooms have to offer. Being in such a wonderful location with so much going on its great to see the rooms are still quite. The complimentary breakfast is a nice add on to complete your stay. This place was pretty fantastic!
Location was great - very close to a couple subway stations (Bryant park and Times Square), plenty of places to eat nearby, a few minutes walk from Times Square, off a main road so easy access to nonstop taxis.

The hotel staff were friendly and quick to respond. We asked for an extra comforter (my son didn't like the blanket that was provided for sleeping on the sofa-bed) and we were told they would see if they had one and bring it up if possible. We laughed and said there was no way we would hear back from them, but they showed up at our door within a few minutes with the comforter he requested! We needed an extra towel and they showed up in less than a minute with two and asked us if we need anything else.

Even though it was near Times Square and on a main road - it was SO QUIET!!! It was such a great surprise. I didn't wake up once!

The breakfast in the morning was pretty basic, but a really great addition to our trip. The room gets pretty crowded quickly so you might have to have someone stalking the room for a table while you get your food.

Apples at the front desk are really welcomed - my son grabbed one every morning on our way out (which he never does at home!).

The elevators are REALLY SLOW. If you're in a hurry to leave, make sure to plan to need up to 10 minutes to get the elevator.

We just enjoyed a four night stay at this hotel. We met our son and family plus some friends there for Spring Break. Marriott is always our first choice but in NYC there are so many of them. I narrowed our choices to Mid-town locations with free Internet, free breakfast and available laundry facilities. Our experience was very much enhanced by the very knowledgeable staff at every turn.

My only complaint is the small size of the bathroom. With a nearby mirror and electrical outlets in the kitchen area, at least two people could get ready for the busy days outside of the bathroom itself so we all kept on schedule.

Room Tip: Try to stay on the Empire State Building side of the hotel. Pets are allowed here and that amenity i...

The location of this hotel is great. It is nearby to Times Square it is an easy walk to Penn Station and sites like the Empire State Building. We were not able to check in early but we were able to easily leave our bags for storage so we could go explore. They also have a nice lounge area on the 3rd floor for guests to utilize before, during and after check out for a home base and a place to sit relax, use the computer or rest rooms. We had a king room with sofa bed. It was a nice large room with a kitchen and a wonderful view. Three of us were very comfortable in this room. I slept on the sofa bed, it was ok for one night but I think it would have been difficult for more than one. We were also able to leave our bags after check out up until Midnight so that we could extend our day in NYC beyond our hotel check out time. The staff were friendly and helpful and our breakfast buffet was included in our rate. I would definitely stay there again. The Easter Bonnet Parade on Easter Sunday on 5th Ave was a blast to watch!

Hello daphnie26,

I am happy to hear that you enjoyed a fun family filled Easter weekend with us in NYC! Being such a busy weekend we cannot always get an early check-in , but I am happy to know we were able to store your luggage and let you enjoy the day! The 3rd floor is our main lobby area and a great area to relax. We hope to see you again here with your family for another weekend getaway.

Great location, just a block from Bryant Park, Times Square and the subway. The hotel staff is friendly and take care of business. They have security and there is a very safe feeling when you enter the lobby and elevators, important when traveling alone. The hotel offers a great self serve breakfast in a large comfortable area. It is a lounge area, couches, chairs, tables, not just a dining room. The rooms have a couch, coffee table and kitchen area. It makes coming back to the room and relaxing possible. It is great for families too. It is my choice hotel when in NYC.

We moved here after one disastrous night in a substandard hotel elsewhere. It was a wonderful change and made us feel much happier about our trip. The room we stayed in had a wonderful view of the Empire state building. we were on the 12th floor which was fine as the lift was quick once it arrived! The room included a well stocked kitchenette with microwave, coffeee machine, large fridge freezer, and lots of cooking pots etc. there was even a dishwasher which the room cleaner loaded and put on if required. The bed was gigantic and there was a comfortable seating area too.
Breakfast was included. This was a little disappointing with some rather tasteless limp food self-served on paper plates with plastic utensils. However it was free and you did not have to eat it.
we had one night when our neighbours had what sounded like a party. I called the duty manager who immediately sent security up to ask them to quieten down - which they did. When mentioned it the next morning, they knocked $100 of our bill! I thought this was very fair treatment.
All in a good place to stay which gives you the chance to heat up your doggy bag of food left over from the huge meals you are presented with when you eat out!
By the way there is an excellent Deli if you turn right out of the hotel door - on the next corner!

Room Tip: Higher rooms might have even better views but hard to beat ours on 12th!

Hello Katemanley,

Thank you for your review about my hotel for potential visitors. It is great to hear you had a room with the Empire State view, and enjoyed the large room and bed that each room has to accommodate the guests. Being a hotel in New York City you might end up with some people here to party, and it sounded like the guest on the same floor as you were here just to do that. I am happy we could resolve your problem and left with a happy resolution. We hope to see you again soon in New York City.

We were traveling with family so we got a suite with two double beds. The room was huge by NYC standards and the rate was excellent. Anytime you can stay in NYC (over the weekend) at a decent hotel for under $200/night, you're doing pretty well. Even the beds seemed larger than the standard double. Breakfast was included, and offered pretty much anything you wanted, including pancakes and waffles. Great location put us in the middle of everything, but since we were on 6th Avenue, we weren't overrun by the Times Square tourists.

Room Tip: I think the doubles may actually be larger than the kings . . .
