If you stayed in other hotels in NYC, you know the size of the suite was a treat and conventienly located and priced well. Great refrigerator and kitchenette. I have no complaints. Due to Hurricane Sandy, the Statue of Liberty and the Seaport were closed. Plenty of great shopping nearby.

Room Tip: We always enjoy a higher floor to get any view available.

Honestly, the room was very nice, very clean, nice breakfast that is hot, and its a great location. Literally 5 minutes to the Times Square, directly across from Bryant Park...the bathrooms are small, but I think I am used to other Marriots in the NYC area, but you get a kitchen with a refrigerator.

However, my down side was when I booked using the 800 # I asked for a specific type of room, was told that is what I was getting. When I arrived I didn't get what I was told.

If you are looking for a suite type with a separate room, be careful what you book...call the hotel directly if you are looking for a larger room, this is not the typical Residence Inn.

I did complain at the front desk, they couldn't hep but directly to the 800 # I called the 800 # and they told me to go to the website and email. Finally a member of management reached out to me but by this time I had checked out. They offered me some points for the future, not enough for a free night, just some points.

It is too bad, the 800 # didn't do its job or someone from management couldn't help me while on site and waited till I paid my bill and then call me. Only rating the value poor due to the fact I felt mislead

However, if you want a nice hotel, its very nice and clean and I felt very safe...just review your reservation carefully.

Dear simpleohio:

Thank you for reviewing my hotel for TripAdvisor readers. I'm sorry to hear there was miscommunication from central reservations regarding the room types we have available. We are different than most Residence Inns you may be familiar with. While our rooms do have the same amenities other Residence Inns have; the majority of them are similar to a studio style apartment with no separation.

Overall, it sounds like you and your family had a nice visit to New York City. I hope you would consider staying with us again.

As everyone mentioned, the hotel is great. Perfect location, great free breakfast (and not as crowded as I was expecting from other reviews), friendly service, comfy beds and very nice/spacious rooms.

On our first morning, my parents didn't get their wake up call and we missed the first part of a very expensive tour. If it weren't a private tour, we'd have missed the whole thing. Turns out, their calls went to another room, which we later figured out. The phone in my room was also wacky and the cordless one didn't work at all. We understand accidents happen, but I recommend using other methods to wake yourself up and double check that our phones work! It definitely spoiled the morning .... But could have been a much bigger disaster!

I also asked for both bills to go to my room (not slipped under my parents) and that did not happen. But everyone there was friendly and good to deal with.

I'd stay again.

My son, his friend and I stayed in this hotel for one night. We found the hotel to be clean and well maintained. Of course, the room was not nearly the size one expects from a Residence Inn, but this is New York City after all. This is a great location, only blocks from Times Square and right next to Bryant Park. The service was friendly, efficient and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was very good, and the food kept coming. The way the dining area is run, lines are short. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again. Do ask for an upper floor if you do not want street noise....but street noise is much less than it used to be before the anti-honking ordinances were employed.

I took my 2 sons ( 21 & 17) to NYC for the Macy's Day Parade. Stayed at this hotel. It was fabulous. Directly on the parade route, extremely large rooms for NYC, excellent location for metro, Times Square, shopping. Without a doubt, I will stay here again. The breakfast - included with your room rate - is unbelievable as well! Full breakfast buffet -- not just cold cereal and danish. Super friendly staff.

I have no complaints about this hotel, it was very large, with a kitchen, 2 queen beds, very clean, helpful staff, every shower was hot, delicious complementary breakfast. 5 minute walk to Times Square, Top of the Rock, and Empire State Building. We stayed on the 32nd floor, had a view of the Statue of Liberty. Awesome location, service, and room quality. This will be my go-to NYC vacation hotel.

We first stayed in Fairfield Inn two blocks away on 37th st., which lost power and therefore telephone and water in superstorm Sandy. We had been trying to find another hotel, but Marriott Central Reservation stated none available in Manhattan. We walked over to this hotel hoping to find a room. The receptionist said, come back at 1 p.m. Maybe. So we did, He said, sorry, none available. Then we asked, when? Answer maybe at 3 p.m. So we walked out rather unhappy. 2 minutes later he is running after us: "a room is available". This was a fantastic relief after the bad situation in the Fairfield Inn,

The rooms are much more spacious than those in the Fairfield Inn. Equipped (as usual) with croockery and cutlery. (Nt that much food could be bought on the streets in the aftermath of Sandy.). The hotel is very large, so during breakfast crowds could and did happen.

Breakfast menu is acceptable with some limitations, no waffles for example and the usual bad coffee characterizing most of these establishments . For 5 o'clock the only thing they provide is a reduction in their booze price. No food, no free drinks.

We stayed in the hotel on miles. Had we wanted to stay for one more day, the price (then) would have been $550 per night (!!!)

In summary, Residence Inn gave us a refuge from Sandy, we are grateful for that. Their attitude towards providing the"freebies" of breakfast and happy hour are on the cheap side

Thank you for reviewing my hotel for TripAdvisor readers. I'm so glad we were able to accommodate you during such an extraordinary week.
