Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Times Square

If you are visiting New York City, there is simply nothing to compare to staying in Times Square and the Marriott is a good choice. The hotel is not cheap but no one should expect a room in Manhattan to be a bargain. Overall it is a good place to stay. the staff will not be overly friendly and will help only if asked directly to do so but this is NYC and it is more of a cultural reality than a weakness in management. If you are on a tight budget it may be a good idea to saty a couple of days further form the heart of the city and the last couple here.
Rooms are adequate and reasonably clean. You will quickly understand that you are paying for the location and not the amenities. As with the rest of Manhattan, parking is expensive and you really don't need a car at all during your stay.
Just check-in and get out the front door and stand in the middle of the advertising universe and take it all in. It is both overwhelming and exhilarating at the same time and an experience that is not to be missed. Although I have been there quite a few times, it still is a rush.

Room Tip: Get the highest room possible and you will enjoy the view.

I stayed here when this hotel had it's grand opening and it is wonderful. The rooms are on the small side but that's NYC. City views.

My husband and I stayed one night at this property on a Sat/Sun we were in NYC seeing shows. Because it was a pre-Halloween weekend prices were high so we used Marriott points. We found the room quite nice for 2 people. Not large, but fine for Manhattan. Clean and neatly decorated. We used the microwave and fridge for a late night post-theatre snack (visited the Food Emporium). We did not use hotel parking - too pricey. We used a garage for 12 hours Saturday then found street parking late Saturday/Sunday right around the corner from the hotel. Hotel is an easy walk to shows. Elevators are problematic - we did end up walking down from 14 to 3 for breakfast and sometimes waiting a few minutes at other times. Breakfast was ok, overcrowded because there was several spurious fire alarm eruptions at 9am Sunday ensuring all were awake simultaneously. They ran out of food but slowly replenished. They did have the hot food basics, but it wasn't anything particularly fancy. Overall - fine for the night; great location - at the right price would stay again. Would not pay $$$$.

Room Tip: ask for a view; also stick to a lower floor due to elevator issues.

We stayed at the Residence Inn for five nights towards the end of October.

The location was excellant. As many other reviewers noted the hotel is within walking distance of Times Square, Bryant Park, Grand Centeral, shopping and lots more. There is also a subway station within one block of the hotel.

The staff was friendly and helpful and always greeted you or asked how your stay was. Even the maintenance man I shared an elevator with asked how I was enjoying my stay. The breakfast buffet was standard with something for everyone. The only disappointment was that on the weekend there was no fresh fruit - only canned peaches - while during the work week there was cutup fresh fruit. And this is a very minor complaint.

The room was small by Residence Inn standards but more than adequate by NYC standards. We had a king sized bed with room to walk around it and a small sitting area. There was also a small kitchenette with a microwave. However, unlike many other Residence Inns this one did not have an oven or a stovetop so don't plan on cooking or heating up a frozen pizza. This did not bother us since we had every intention of enjoying some of the local restaurants. However, on our last night the weather was miserable (we were there for the earliest snow storm in years) so we had food brought in which we were able to warm up in the microwave.

Overall a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend the hotel.

Very nice and excellent located hotel, really close to Bryant Park an Times Square. Nice and helpfull staff, nice view from upper floors and corner rooms (surcharge). Rooms are very clean, the complimentary breakfast is uncommon in Manhattan and nice to have :-) .

Rooms are not large and little bit pricy, but its directly in the centre of Manhattan, thats why ...

It is in walking distance to Times Square, Bryant Park, Public library, Grand Central Terminal, Empire State Building etc. etc.

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights, it was already our fourth stay there and we plan to come again next year ...

Room Tip: Book higher floor and corner suite - the view is much better and you will get two windows.

Located on an off the pace 40th.street but very close to the theater district and Times Square. Going to the theater easy. Just walk out the door and walk just a few short blocks. Want to take in TImes Square, the same short walk. Grand Central Station, Amtrak Union Station, the same short walk.
The hotel was clean and very modern with an incredible free breakfast offering. Check in and out was very quick and convenient.
Will definitely return again.
