Went to Friedman's because of the reviews here and they did not disappoint. I had the Friedman's Omelet (pastrami, caramelized onions and mustard) and it was quite good. Service, though, was just ok.

One odd thing was we were seated in the side with the bagel cases. I was looking at them and was wondering if I could sub out my toast for one of those delicious looking bagels. But the waiter informed me they couldn't do it as that was a different business. It turns out the bagel counter is Browns Bagels. And, from the looks of it, another business is going in the back area soon (I think a Pastrami Queen, if I remember correctly). So, almost a small food court.

I googled "the best place for breakfast in mid-town." and up came Friedman's, so we walked down from 35th street. It was early about 9 am and there were plenty of seats empty, The menu prices immediately hit us in the face, but this is mid-town. The bill for 3 adults and an 8 year old. $84.00 including tax. Oh, the place was packed when we left. Gluten free dining, except for their Mac and Cheese. Free bottled water.

We walked past this unassuming place early evening, and took a mental note to return for the breakfast after spotting the menu of American classics. I am very glad we did.

The service was friendly and attentive, without being intrusive, which I like. I ordered the French Toast, and my partner the chicken breakfast wrap. A cup of tea and coffee went with it.

The French Toast was a large portion, but was one of the best things I ate in New York. Not too sweet, wonderfully soft and extremely satisfying. My partner very much approved of his wrap too.

An excellent spot, and one of the few places in NY that deserved a large tip.

This popular eatery has queues out onto the street but be patient as the staff work like clockwork to clear tables for the next customers and deliver meals and drinks very efficiently. We went for Saturday Brunch. Don't be put off by the waiting crowd but go inside and get your name on the list. We were told it could be a 45 minute wait for a table for 4 but were offered a table after just 15 minutes or so. It's typical American fare and has something to please all tastes. Their lemonade went well with my "Bacon Swisswich", a toasted chicken sandwich with bacon and melted Swiss cheese. Only improvement could be their fries, which were a bit soft for me.

Great vibe. Great Service. Decent food with a few nice surprises. Enjoyed the gluten free toast and complimentary blueberry butter.
