“Great Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2014 via mobile

This hotel totally met our expectations. The staff could not have been friendlier. We enjoyed hanging out in the small lobby with family and enjoyed both evening drinks and morning breakfast in the restaurant. Loved the location, mid town and a little farther east, and less
Hectic, than where we usually stay. All NY rooms are pricey and smaller, but this one had what we needed.

We were moving our daughter into NYC for a summer internship and found the staff to be extremely helpful. They were able to offer us advice on where to find dorm essentials to how long the subway would take to get to work etc. We had drinks at the rooftop bar, pricey but nice and relaxing. We also had drinks at the bar and it was very lively and the staff was very polite. We did not eat there, but the food did look good, and many people were eating late night. We thought the room was large for NYC and the location is great for Midtown or NYU area.

Room Tip: We had a king with a futon which slept three

The location of this hotel is close to central park south. Reasonable close to the train. The room was small the bed was a full at best and the worst part was it smelled like mildew the entire time. We were on the 7th floor facing Lexington avenue so no view. If I came back to NYC I would chose a different hotel

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback! We apologize that your experience didn't live up to your expectations. We will investigate the mildew smell as this isn't something we are proud of and it is unfortunate that you had to experience this.

It is my hope that when your travels bring you back to the NYC area you would give us another opportunity to WOW you.

Please feel free to contact me via email monique.hudson@renaissancehotels.com if I can be of further assistance.

This is the most ridiculous hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms are poorly configured. There is barely any space between the corner of the bed and the wall to pass through. I have a huge bruise on my shin where I kept hitting the corner of the bed's wood frame. The bathroom is small and cramped. The sink area is too small to set out any toiletries. The desk area is tiny and dark. There is useless sofa and ottoman that block access for opening the blinds. The TV remote doesn't work worth a damn. At one point while drying my hair the fuse blew and I had to go searching for another outlet to finish drying it. The housekeeping staff was a joke. They didn't even bother putting the all pillows back on the bed after making it. They left them strewn around the room. I will never stay in this or any Renaissance hotel ever again.

I was at the hotel, after having been in the same chain in Barcelona and it was excellent. But here in new york I paid a room for two people and had a bed for a single person. Making my stay uncomfortable. I Talk to the reception and they didn't give me a solution the location is good. But for the money that i paid, i could have a better hotel.

The service had its ups and downs...
The value is average since the Residence Inn near 5th avenue provides an equivalent service with a lower price. The value rating could be improved if the hotel provided a fitness room and a bigger TV in the bedroom.
The sleep quality is Excellent. Great bed, pillows, air conditioning/heater.
Cleanliness is Excellent.
Location is Excellent. Near the subway, starbucks, Delis, Central Park and not so far away from Time Square and Broadway.

Room Tip: As higher as possible to avoid nois from traffic.

It's New York City - rooms are a bit small, but nicely configured, actually good for a single, a little cramped for two, and impossible for than that. The bathroom is really small and cramped, which can present a problem. Queen bed - no king available, but if the bed had been larger it would be difficult to move around the room. Strong points: the really pleasant staff who seem genuinely interested in being helpful and friendly - the location, not just for Manhattan, but also if you need to get over to Queens or the trendy areas of Long Island City. The restaruant is pricey - but hey, it's the big apple. Parking is outrageous - $55/day with no in and out privileges. Even with the negatives, I would stay there again if headed to NYC.

Room Tip: Not good if you plan on using your car

Green Features: The hotel attempts to get into environmentally friendly activity by encouraging re-use of towels, etc. No re-cycle containers in the room, so I presume they simply trash the trash!
