This is a great hotel. I've stayed at this hotel at a number of times and do not normally write reviews but this is a must visit/stay hotel. If you like luxury, boutique with mysterious undertones then this is the place for you. The lobby itself is littered with good looking people a huge fireplace and funky artwork; Damien Hirst seems to be a permanent fixture. This hotel is always frequented by the who’s who of NYC and you’ll definitely bump into a celeb or two. Walking into the lobby and seeing a model casting is not unusual neither is seeing a guest hanging out by the fireplace on their laptop. The facilities at the hotel are also very good. They have a great rooftop terrace, a Italian restaurant that wouldn’t be out of place somewhere on Park and uber exclusive bar, which as a guest you normally get have the privilege of partying til late in. Rooms are decent sized and if you’re lucky then street view is great. Tip: The hotel also has access to the private park and is always a place to wind down with a coffee after a big night out or just to appreciate the weather. Negatives: It is not very kid friendly and the gym is very small and I've never used the spa facilities. I have recommended this hotel to friends and family as well as clients and has never failed to impress. Service is always with a smile and the Concierge and Front Desk are very resourceful. Katie Marks on the front desk in particular is great and always recommends well regardless of what you’re looking for even if it is just a chat.

My friend and I went to New York for a quick weekend. Trying to find a decent room with two beds is certainly a challenge. I booked the Gramercy Park Hotel since it is a Fine Hotel with AMEX, the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, and location. The price was certainly not cheap. This is NOT a fine hotel; I do not know why AMEX has them on the list. We arrived at midnight and were put in a smoking room. Having worked all day and a long flight, I figured someone was smoking in another room. I have not stayed in a hotel that allows smoking in many years. I called the front desk and at 1am they were fully booked. My AMEX reservation automatically says non smoking room. The next morning I inquired and the front desk said they could help me but not until that night. Since we were not staying but 3 nights and had much to do that day and night, I passed on their offer. Staying in a smoking room and floor as a non smoker made the trip less than desired. Breakfast was included in our room rate but no one told us ahead of time that the rooftop restaurant was closed for renovations. The restaurant attached to the hotel was trying to accomodate hotel guests but did not serve breakfast until 12 noon on Sunday! Not a good alternative. The rooms need to be renovated. The halls etc. are looking worn. All in all was not the right hotel for me or my friend.

This hotel is stunning. It's a privilege to live amongst such art (versus viewing it from a distance). I loved the dark and velvety interior. It's all a bit smoky and sultry. Location is excellent. Service is excellent--except room service which takes forever. You're better off wandering down to the adjoining restaurant, Maialino, which served the best pasta I've ever had in my life. My husband and I enjoyed a romantic getaway here. It's not a place I would take the whole family.

I loved the access to and view of the park. Beautifully decorated and spacious room, especially enjoyed the in-room drinks cabinet. Only negative comment would be the food from room service, it was average at best and they could afford to turn up the lighting just a little, it's very dark. The rest was just great.

If you love Andy Warhol, this place might be for you. The place is decorated in a kind of post-Warhol/Napoleon decor. The low-level mood lighting is so low that you have to wonder if they are just trying to save on the electric bill. Our room was clean. Beds were hard. The shower water pressure was awful and the hot water never got hotter than very warm. Oh, and the view. We asked for a view of the park. Instead, we got a view across an alley to the building next door.
Room rates and restaurant costs are overpriced, even for New York.

Room Tip: Best advice: Find another hotel.

I had my baby shower at the Terrace. I can not recommend it enough! The staff was incredible from start to finish Michelle who helped plan and coordinate the event was so nice and accomodating. The staff on the day of the shower was extremely helpful and attentive. The venue was impeccable! I definitely recommend having your event here! It was a day to remember and I can not thank them enough for making it absolutely perfect for me!
