We did the daylight cruise and it was excellent. Loved the sights and the commentary.
Take the subway to Tussaud's to get your ticket. Then it is a 15 minute walk to the Pier or free bus transport included. Got the free bus back to Times Sq after the cruise. Excellent.

This is an unethical business whose shady practices are designed to scam tourists. The company offers a set number of sightseeing cruises per day and directs customers to show up 30 minutes prior to the tour time of their choosing in order to secure a spot. However, the tickets are sold through multiple vendors -both online and at various locations throughout the city- resulting in massive and deliberate overselling. My husband and I purchased an online ticket for Saturday, September 29 and arrived at 11:15 am for the 12:00 tour. The attendant taking our tickets assured us we had arrived in "plenty of time" to get on the boat. We got in the back of the line but soon realized that the employees were doing nothing to organize or control the line. Two large tour groups that arrived twenty minutes after us were allowed to go the front of the line, and numerous latecomers jumped into the middle of the line with no notice or reprimand from the staff. We were next in line to board when they declared the boat was full. A large group of customers who had also been left out -all of whom had also arrived early and waited in line properly- asked to speak to the manager about getting a refund. The manager was rude, condescending, and refused to acknowledge or even listen any customer complaint. He claimed that he had no affiliation with the company and that it was not his responsibility to provide a refund because "anybody" could have sold the tickets. He refused to even do anything for a group of tourists who had a flight that same day and could not have possibly gone on another tour. When I called the customer service number listed on the ticket, I was told that I could "request" a refund which would take 7-10 business days, then when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was put on indefinite hold. This company clearly cares nothing about actually providing a service which has been paid for. We have had to resort to disputing the charges through our credit card company.

We took the one hour Downtown Cruise from Pier 5, near the Statten Island Ferry. One hour was an exaggeration - from casting off to docking was a bare 45 minutes. We had some difficulty finding an agent to buy tickets at Pier 5 - tour was very poorly signposted. Queue was for about fifteen minutes and even then the good viewing seats were taken by the time we boarded. The boat was absolutely packed - dangerously so as everyone was on the top deck and the boat listed heavily towards the particular attraction on view as the cruise progressed. Crowded to a point where you had to stand up and jostle for a position to get any sort of view. Hopeless if you were sitting down and constant disturbance from people threading the narrow gaps between seats. Also, suprisingly, no form of safety briefing or guidance on emergency procedure. On the plus side, the views of Ellis Island, Liberty Island and the Manhattan skyline were superb. Worth doing but not with this company.
