Description: Spigolo is an Italian-inspired restaurant on the Upper East Side of New York City. Opened in January 2005, Spigolo has gained acclaim from both devoted customers and restaurant critics. Influenced by his masterful incorporation of seasonal ingredients, Joseph D'Angelo's menu represents a culinary union of contemporary American cooking and traditional Italian cuisine. Spigolo is known as much for its warm, intimate atmosphere and its welcoming staff devoted to attentive service and genuine hospitality, as it is for its food. Come experience Spigolo for yourself.

Food is delicious and original - I love to eat here. Outdoor seating is available. It's pricey though I won't lie. No very family oriented but a great date night.

“Excellent - don't miss it”
Reviewed July 14, 2009

We live on the Upper East Side here, and most of the "neighborhood Italians" are good but not great. Spigolo is the exception. It's much more of a destination than the others. We took our out-of-town friend who is in the restaurant business, and just returned from a trip to Paris where she had great meals, and she loved Spigolo. Outstanding seasonal items are definitely the stuffed squash blossoms (delicate, lovely and light), as well as the seared halibut served on an ethereal bed of fresh pea-and-mint-puree -- heavenly! First course pastas were all excellent. Very nice service. It's a small restaurant (augmented in summer by outdoor tables), so book in advance.

I'd rate this three stars since I keep ratings in line with newspapers rather than online review sites... but, something about the food and service is so great that I'll relent and give it four. Nice work by front of house and sous chefs. Food is nearly exceptional, at a minimum very tasty, very clean. Expensive but thorough Italian wine list.

Don't know what the hype is about. The food is okay.
