Great experience when in New York suitable for all ages. Great fun for everyone regardless of how well you can skate. Can be quite expensive (about $40pp) but definitely worth the money.

This is definitely worth adding to your trip. Such an iconic place to skate. You can rent skates there and even get socks if you need. The price is reasonable outside peak season (Christmas time is more expensive). There are skaters of all abilities from extremely novice to expert skaters and everything in between. This caters to everyone. I would definitely go again.

Is it possible to visit New York City in April and not visit The Rink at Rockefeller Center? Possibly, but we wanted to have the experience, so we did. The Rink is not large, but many people only skate for a short time so even though we were there during spring break, it wasn't crowded to the point of being uncomfortable to skate. Yes, it's overpriced, but (1) this is New York, the home of overpriced, and (2) you are probably paying for the hype and the photo opportunities more than the skate rental and admission. If it's in your budget for your trip, skate away!

Visited with my 14 year old daughter in February and we had an amazing experience! We did not skate due to us not being used to the cold weather...lol! But loved the view of all angles!

Ideal for the family, pleasant day and a non-holiday season Friday morning, made this a memorable ice skating experience for us all! Skates are available for renting. Don’t expect a bargain for this outing. It’s New York AND definitely an iconic location. Even my teenage boys recognized the scene and had a great time! Something relatively simple for the bucket list, I’m so glad we had an opportunity to do this.

Visiting NYC in December I thought it was a no brainer to go skating at the Rockefeller Centre. We booked in advance on line and chose the First Skate Experience. It was magical - a fabulous Christmas experience. The early morning atmosphere with the lights on and the morning just breaking was so pretty and just amazing. The first skate is limited to 50 skaters however we had the first 15 minutes sharing the rink with less that 10 people. Coffee and tea is provided and there is an outdoor viewing area if you need to sit out for a bit. Highly recommended!!!!

We came to The Rink with 4 kids. We had planned on skating in Central Park but it was too cold for the kids and this was the next best option and the kids weren’t disappointed. They have it set up so that you skate in a 2 hour time slot. You can skate for as little or as long as you like in that time slot. The room for trying on skates is pretty small but staff were generally helpful. There was also lockers for you to put your belongings in. My friend and I sat outside to watch our kids skate. They had a great time and weren’t disappointed that it wasn’t Central Park. It’s a pretty unique venue and I think being sheltered is also a bonus. There’s plenty of things to do and see outside The Rink to make the most of your time there ie. shopping & restaurants and the Top of the Rock. I wouldn’t say it’s cheap, I think it worked out to be a bit shy of $200 for all the kids skating plus skate hire.

Had the opportunity to skate the rink and enjoy dinner at the Rockefeller Center a few weeks ago. The rink itself sees a ton of skaters every day so the ice is not the greatest, but to be expected. We paid for the VIP skate and dinner combo which we felt was worth the money over just paying the entry fee and skate rental separate then having to go and find dinner.

The VIP area creates a shelter to get your skates on (skates are not very comfortable wear warm socks) hot chocolate/coffee and some cookies as a snack during your 1.5 hour skate time. 1.5 hours is more than enough to enjoy the rink and get some photos of the famous rink. If we didn't get the skate & dinner package I wouldn't pay the skating fee. The dinner on its own would have been well over $150 so I felt the combo was well worth it.

Book a few months in advance to ensure you get your desired time.

Thw rink is smaller than we thought, but not crowded on a late Friday night. Classic and must do and worth the time and effort. Uncomfortable skates, but that's expected for rentals. $70 for 2 skaters with rentals and ice time.

What an amazing experience! First the staff was friendly, attentive, and made you feel comfortable. They helped pick the right skates and made exchanging sizes very easy. The rink was well maintained, cleaned at regular intervals, and the staff were non intrusive. Skating on the ice felt like you were not in the middle of NYC, and I didn't even really notice all the people looking down from the street level. The family had a great time and I would definitely go back.
