The Museum of Jewish Heritage located in Manhattan Battery Park is a fantastic museum dedicated to the Holocaust. It tells the story of the Holocaust by showing what Jewish life was before the Holocaust. I location is beautiful with views of the statue of liberty and Ellis Island. It's also a great place for a school trip, very educational. Pack a lunch and after your visit sit outside and take in the great view.

Last weekend, we visited NYC. I was disappointed that the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island were still closed. As we meandered around Battery Park, we came upon the Museum of Jewish Heritage. What a gem. The building is spacious, immaculate, and well organized. The exhibits showcase the multiple layers of Jewish culture and thought in the 20th and 21st centuries. Gaining an understanding of Jewish life around the world prior to the Holocaust provides a better understanding of what was lost as a result of the Holocaust. Artifacts, photos, and videos bring both the positive and negative aspects of Jewish history to life.

I liked the museum because it is in such a significant location to document Jeeish history in the United States overlooking Ellis Island where almost all of us entered. The view of the statute of liberty from the third floor is amazing an there is a comfortable place to sit and contemplate. I especially enjoye the special exhibit of photography by the soviet Jew linked with a Russian unit on the Eastern front. Overall for me connecting with my heritage is a spiritual experience an a mitzvah to take my daughter.

Very interesting exhibits depicting the history of Judaism in all parts of the world. Lovely setting right near Battery Park although there is construction nearby.
