Yes, it's a dive (which is why it's not a 5) that you'd pass by in a heartbeat. Sometimes you even have to share a table with a total stranger. But if you skip this place, then you will have missed an outstanding meal in a neighborhood known for outstanding meals. The seafood is mouth-watering. The noodle dishes are great. The bill is small. Cash only. Go when the crabs are in season.

We are regulars at Great NY Noodletown. So, on Saturday 2/2/2013 I had been wishing to get their Shrimp Wonton Soup which I normally enjoy.
This time however, I was so disappointed-every single one of my shrimp wontons were spoiled! As I bit into each one with hesitation & disbelief, I was hoping to find at least one that was not spoiled.
I did not bother to complain because they were so busy with the lunch crowd that I felt more inclined to just leave and not go through the hassle.

Hong Kong style noodles, meats, veggies and more hot off the wok. Super fresh and tasty. Some unusual items and seasonal crab. Be prepared to share a table.

Great value and authentic taste, if you do not mind the quality of service. People all over the country have tried Chinese food from take out experience. However, very often, take-out Chinese food can mislead you about what true Chinese food is. Without stress your wallet, without high expectation on service. With patience to wait (they are busy most of the time), you can truly appreciate what good and inexpensive Chinese "cuisine" is. Not true cuisine, but close. True cuisine will cost you a lot more.

Had more than we could finish for $10 each. Shrimp wanton with pork soup was wonderful--broth was so fragrant, not over salted like other places. Instant table as soon as we arrived at 6:30 on à Saturday night. Lots of ethnic orientals dining there which is always a good sign. Don't order shrimp rolls--although packed with shrimp they are heavily breaded and deep fried--gall bladder stress test. Yes the decor is industrial, but this is the real deal
