what a great way to view the city from the water! so much cheaper than doing the touristy boat tours and you can use your mta card or purchase tix on your smartphone (I recommend doing it on your phone- very quick and convenient). there are many spots to jump off along the east river.

This is the most expensive civilized commute but the price is well worth sitting on a bus in Lincoln Tunnel traffic. Their customer service is second to none and you can conveniently buy tickets from your phone.

If you are a family of three I would not recommend using this ferry. Parking and round trip tickets for 3 will cost more than tolls and midtown parking. If you do use this waterway the parking can be a fairly long walk to the ferry terminal. You cannot pay for the parking and the ferry tickets at the same place so you'll need to get on two different lines. There will be plenty of free buses to get you into midtown but good luck finding one to get you back to the ferry. The boats themselves run typically every 10 minutes during rush hour and every 20 minutes at other times. They are always on time. They are reasonably clean and comfortable.

The Waterway ferries are a great way to get from various points in New Jersey to NY. We were visiting NY and wanted to get a bigger hotel room than the usual Manhattan hotel rooms, so we decided to stay at the Sheraton in Lincoln Harbor. We were able to get between the hotel and Manhattan, usually in 10 minutes or less. The ferries are very frequent and fast. It is a bit pricey compared to the NJ Transit buses, but we paid for the convenience. The only downside is that because the main purpose of these ferries is for commuters who work in NY, the ferries do not run as late into the night, especially on Sunday. There is a free shuttle service that helps bring ferry passengers into parts of Manhattan that is serviced by the subway. But it did not seem as easy to find a shuttle to get us back to the ferry.

An entertaining look at several aspects of America's sea, air and space endeavors. More commercialized than most aviation museums with limited access to areas of interest on the aircraft carrier. Hangar bay is full of exhibits that tend to minimize the perception of how big this ship really is. More areas of this vessel should be opened for visits. The USS Growler moored nearby gives a much more in depth view of life at sea by allowing visitors to see most major operations areas on the boat. The recent addition of the Shuttle Enterprise is a good view. Overall, a visit to this museum, including the shuttle is very pricey at $25+ a head. Discounts are offered for seniors, active duty and retired military, and veterans.
