“USS Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

An entertaining look at several aspects of America's sea, air and space endeavors. More commercialized than most aviation museums with limited access to areas of interest on the aircraft carrier. Hangar bay is full of exhibits that tend to minimize the perception of how big this ship really is. More areas of this vessel should be opened for visits. The USS Growler moored nearby gives a much more in depth view of life at sea by allowing visitors to see most major operations areas on the boat. The recent addition of the Shuttle Enterprise is a good view. Overall, a visit to this museum, including the shuttle is very pricey at $25+ a head. Discounts are offered for seniors, active duty and retired military, and veterans.

“TERRIFIC”
Reviewed July 13, 2012

The water way tours are tremendous and relaxing! If you get a tour guide named "John" you are in for a treat! He has a terrific sense of humor, NY born and raised, he will keep you interested and very amused at the same time.

“A great way to get around NYC”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

Even native New Yorkers lose sight of the fact that, Bronx excepted, the city of New York is an archipelago. There are literally dozens of islands (Long Island, Manhattan, Staten Island being the largest); heck, even Bronx, part of the mainland US, includes City Island.

A great way to get around is by water. Over the last several years ferries have come back to NYC. Walt Whitman wrote about ferry service between his native Brooklyn and Manhattan. So it is as much a return to the past, as the wave of the future, to use ferries to get around the city.

NY Waterway (http://www.nywaterway.com/) has ferries that ply the waters of the East and Hudson Rivers. There are single and all-day tickets available.

On the 4th of July Laura and I got an all-day ticket, and hopped from Long Island City to Brooklyn, to Manhattan, and back. We searched out restaurants close to ferry stops, and enjoyed an adventure in our own home city. It is a great experience, being a tourist in one's own city for a day.

The ferries are clean, efficient, well handled, have inside seating and outside decks.

Highly recommended.

“Good choice of transportation to NYC if driving from NJ”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

If you're driving to NYC from NJ side, parking at Port Imperial and taking a ferry might be a good choice. The parking fee is $10 for the whole day and ferry is $9 one way. There is a free bus service at the Midtown terminal, but make sure you pick up the bus route guide before you leave the terminal because the route changes depending on the time and day.
