We stopped in here for breakfast and although no major concerns it also didn't excite us. It is very much like many of the other small cafes and we found better elsewhere.

The food was average and overpriced for what you got. 5 of us ate breakfast there on a Monday morning and service was fine but the food taste and quality was like cafeteria food at best. Left us unimpressed.

I had read reviews about Food Exchange, had meant to try them during previous trips, finally made it there first part of December 2010. I was not disappointed. The only problem I had was deciding what sandwich to order because everything looked so good. My friend and I got different items and shared. I only rated it 4 stars for atmosphere, but if you rate it strictly in contrast to similar deli-type restaurants, it'd get 5 stars from me. Will make a point to return when in Manhattan again.

Food Exchange is a typical chain deli around Manhattan, similar to a Cafe Metro. They offer your standard soup, salads, sandwiches, pasta, etc. I usually opt for the create-a-salad, which is a terrific deal as they let you pile on the toppings for one low price. I have also used their catering services and was extremely impressed. The manager and staff were very friendly and eager to help. I ordered the President platter, which included my choice of sandwiches (classics, signature, wraps, or low-fat pitas!), garden salad, and platter of dessert treats. I give Food Exchange a slightly higher rank than its many competitors, but would only stop there for lunch or a quick snack.
