We just randomly happened upon the place while visiting China Town recently. I didn't even know the place existed.
We thought the food was okay. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't the best. I'm not sure I'd eat here again. The staff was not rude to us but they weren't exactly fawning over us. Service seemed a little slow.
The menu is a little different. Don't expect the same ole Chinese dishes that you get at your local takeout. We had ginger and garlic tilapia and garlic shrimp. The shrimp are large and they gave you plenty of them but they were slightly overcooked. The rice was hard, like it was the bottom of the pot. The tilapia was great. We also had seafood pancakes but they were basically these fried hard doughy things with seafood flavouring.
The atmosphere and decor are pretty bland. The seat I had was cracked and the old plastic scratched up my legs. I know that in NYC, a lot of places don't offer bathrooms for non-paying customers but an 11 year old kid came in and they absolutely would not allow him to use the bathroom. The place was not crowded so I don't know why they were so adamant. It was obvious the kid was a tourist and not some annoying street urchin.
At any rate, it'll do in a pinch but I'm sure there are better places in China Town.
