“A whole other way to see New York”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Rent a bike and ride from Battery Park to the George Washington Bridge. In the middle is Riverside Park and that is a wonderful 20-some block span of city life. Plan to make it a day, there are great stops along the route. You'll see pleasure boats, you'll pass Chelsea Piers, you'll see The Intrepid, and a few other stops for ships and boats in the various slips on the Hudson River. When you hit Riverside Park you'll find places to eat (in the summer) at 70th Street and then again at 79th Street Boat Basin. You can walk or ride up into the Park at 72nd Street. There is a dog run (only a New Yorker and a dog lover can appreciate a cordoned off spot for dogs to play and pee off leash!) The gardens and the small parks and playgrounds are dotted along the route and give you a great flavor or city life for its residents. It's a great flat route for runners (with water spots along the way.)

“Great place for dogs, cyclists and nature lovers”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

Riverside Park on the extreme west side of Manhattan is a great place to relax on the lawns, toss a ball or a Frisbee, grab a bite at the Hudson Cafe or exercise your dog at the 105 St Dog Park. There is a long promenade for strolling or jogging. Hearty souls can follow the path down to the Green-way where they can join cyclists, joggers and skaters as they roll along the side of the magnificent Hudson River.
Adjacent to the Green way there are clay courts for tennis, partitioned areas for volley ball, gymnastics, and even an area that appears to be dedicated to Tai Chi. There are public restrooms and water fountains and lots of benches facing the river and on the promenade. The park is also host to many free concerts. I was even able to see the Fourth of July Fireworks from one of the paths.
If you need a bite, the Hudson Cafe has small plates and reasonably priced drinks. The are open only on the weekends in the fall.
The park has wonderful trees and grassy areas. It is also very clean.
I visit every day, and I bet you would enjoy it also.

“Really nice park”

If you are tired of NYC crowds and your neck hurts because you've been seeing too much skyscrapers it's a very good place to relax on one of lovely benches.

“A worth while stop”
Reviewed September 10, 2013 via mobile

Another lovely park. This one is along the west side of the island. Lots of people playing sports, enjoying a concert, hanging out, exercising or just strolling. It's hard to see some of the damage caused by Sandy but good to remember. So much to see and do at this park. One of my favorites.
