I visited on 9th May and loved it so much I went back on 10th &11th.
John and all the team made me so welcome and the food and wine were very enjoyable and good value. The music was fantastic and the atmosphere was cosy and intimate.
Highly recommended for those who want a great jazz supper club with good music and dancing.

We arrived here after dinner across the road at 11pm, just as the band took a break. We were all charged $12 for sitting down and the wine was $50. When the waitress came with the wine, she didn't smile and was not at all friendly. She just poured the wine in all four glasses and took the bottle away. She asked about food too, which was odd considering what happened next.

We were also forced to put our coats into the cloakroom although there were only 6 other people there on a Wednesday evening and we had the entire raised area to ourselves. $1 per item.

Now, the band came on again at 11.20pm and finished at 11.35pm. And that was it. I would have laughed if we'd have ordered food, we would have been eating in an empty restaurant.

How they could have charged us $12 each for 15 minutes of jazz is beyond me. I actually feel it is disgusting that we were not told or given a rebate, of 90%.

So, we paid $98 for a bottle of wine and 15 minutes of jazz. But wait, then you get hit with the compulsory 12% service charge and then another 15% gratuity!!! There was also the tax to pay too of course.

So effectively it ended up being $134 for a bottle of wine, and then another $3 for the coats we practically had ripped off our backs to add insult to injury.

Maybe the food is good and maybe at the weekend when they stay open late it would be good, but these additional charges make it extremely expensive and coupled with the very bad service I would never come back here again. Service should always be discretionary and $16 for opening a bottle of wine with a sour face is ridiculous.

My tip, get in early and drink cocktails if you must go, but I won't be going back.

This is one of the few places in NYC where you can enjoy big band jazz of the 30s while eating dinner or enjoying your drinks. If you are feeling confident, you can show off your moves on the dance floor. Basically, you can eat, listen, and dance here which you won't find elsewhere but this all comes at a price which includes band cover, steep meal and drink prices, and included gratuity. But worth a visit for the jazz enthusiast or if you're looking for something different.
