This ride was included in our 7 day subway pass, well worth a visit, takes less than 10 mins from one side to the other. It gets busy so don't leave it till a peak time. Some great pics to be had here

“One of New York's hidden gems”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

Take the aerial tram and enjoy the views on this 4 minute ride over to Roosevelt Island. Avoid the rush hour as commuters are on their way to work. The cable car runs parallel with the Queenboro bridge and the views are superb. Cost us $2.75 each way. Once on the Island take the walk to the Four Freedoms Park. It is a fantastic position to take photographs of the Manhattan skyline. For all movie buffs this featured in the "Spiderman" movie. Also featured was the ruins of the old smallpox hospital where Spiderman and the Green Goblin fight it out.

“Great ride”

Fantastic way to contemplate NY from a different angle, the skyline, the Queensboro bridge...
Once in Roosevelt Island don't miss a chance to photograph the NU from the other side and take a quiet walk in the park.

“Pleasant surprise!”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Visited with my family in January. I've seen pictures and some opinions about this aerial tram, but once we get there it's fantastic! We loved it! The ride, the views of Manhattan and of the Roosevelt Island, the view of the Queensboro Bridge, I mean everything! Amazing price (the ticket is the same price as one ride with the metrocard, you can even pay with it), amazing views and also really nice neighborhood at the island! Oh, just be aware of this: On the day we went, our ride with the aerial train to Manhattan was the last one because there was going to be a maintenance on the tram, so there was going to be a wait of 3 hours until the next ride, so we had to go back with the subway, not so cool but at least there was a way to... So if you're planning on to visit it, check the website or check with the staff if there are any stops scheduled. Oh, in the winter it's REALLY cold and windy, even more cold than in Manhattan.

“Great views of the city for only $ 2.5”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Even though only 5 minutes or so, taking the cable tram is a great way of seeing Manhattan and its first, second and third avenues from high above. One way ticket will cost you a couple of dollars.
