I have always wanted to ride the Roosevelt Island Tram. So, I finally did….
I rode the filled-to-capacity tram on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. It was difficult to take photos while in the tram; too many riders (yes, I was one of them) and too much glare on the glass. Photography would have been easier with fewer people in the tram and better lighting conditions.
On Roosevelt Island, I went to the Visitor Center and was given a free map. I walked along the promenade to the lighthouse. The windy, sunlit walk was “off the beaten path,” with hardly anyone around. If you have the time, the lighthouse (built in 1872) is worthy of a visit.
The tram ride is ordinary. The views from the tram are extraordinary.
