Description: SIDECAR is PJ Clarke's handsome semi-private upstairs dining room. The birthplace of Patrick Joseph Clarke himself, for 50 years, it was a musty antiques office. Now, its wood beamed ceiling, exposed brick walls hung with fine art, and long seemingly endless space welcomes diners to one of Manhattan's most intimate dining rooms. You enter Sidecar through a special entrance on East 55th Street. The menu, prepared in Sidecar’s own kitchen, is Steaks, Chops, Seafood and Raw Bar. And, there's always the PJ’s Hamburger. Whether seated on the long banquets that run the entire length of the room, or at a table on the main floor, Bank of England chairs immediately envelope one in a unique sense of clubby comfort. An extensive wine collection, personal attention and the quiet calm of a unique refuge complete the experience.

“Consistently wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2013

Ate there whilst on business for the 2nd time this year. Simply wonderful. One of the best burgers that I have ever had. The service is amazing. They remembered me from my last visit and 2 of the managers came over to say hi. Very cool place with a real buzz. I love his place.

“Don't go here for the food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

The decor here is nice and the service very friendly. Unfortunately, the food leaves a lot to be desired. My "medium-rare" steak came out chewy and very well-done. My colleague was given the wrong sauce for his steak. Neither steak was worth $30. Avoid this place if you value decent food.

“Private Dinner Club with Incredible History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

The Side Car is a discrete New York restaurant club located upstairs from PJ Clarke's. This private dining club is setting a trend by offering a higher level of personalized service for those who want to entertain clients with a bit of a social club setting without all the stuffiness of the usual private club environments.

Since it is by membership only, both you and your guests feel a bit special being able to dine there and the service is attentive as well. The food is consistently good with classic steakhouse type fare with some additional flavor flair.

This experience will not disappoint and the location is affiliated with other SideCars located in Washington DC, Las Vegas and a few other spots.

The location is beautiful with brick walls all over. The menu is simple and tasty. Exactly what you expect from a good restaurant. The service is a bit slow and could pay more attention.
We had the iceberg wedge salad which was just fantastic. Also the oysters were super fresh. The special of the day was a pan seared snapper so fresh and tasty. And the burgers are excellent. Also they have a good wine list with decent prices.
Well done.

“Great Memories but this time just OK.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

I lived four years in NYC. PJ Clark's and the Sidecar were regular stops and hold good memories. The atmosphere is very charming and feels somewhat exclusive with prices to match. You access the sidecar via a door on the outside by ringing a buzzer. They profess to be members only establishment but seem happy to accommodate conditions permitting. Worth the visit but not a priority if your stay in NYC is brief.
