“you can judge the restaurant by the quality of the sauce”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

This is a family style restaurant where three to four people can share an entree. Do not over order. The Vodka sauce with ziti was delicious. If you are a seafood fan order the mixed seafood with black pasta; the sauce is excellent and the shrimp and calamari was the best( this dish will satisfy 4 to 5 diners) The chicken parm the shrimp scampi and the Caprese Salad were equally good. We had nine people and we over ordered. I'd return in a heart beat. It's a bit noisy but it is worth it.

“Still my favorite spaghetti!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

I go at Tony's every time I go to New York... I haven't been there for almost two years and I was happy to see that their Spaghetti with meatballs was as good as I remembered. Even with an individual plate, I still had too much food and as usual, it was very affordable for the quality of the food served there.

I was there alone that night and the server who recognized my french-canadian accent from Montreal spoke to me in french and it was a nice surprise.

It wasn't my last visit as Tony's ... I will go back there again and again!

“I thought Tony's Restaurant was great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

My wife and I ate at Tony's four times during the week we stayed in New York in October 2012, Within 100 yards of Time Square it is full of Italians, which usually indicates good Italian food. We were not disappointed, Very large portions mean that one plate of food between two is ample.

“Favourite food in NYC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

We had:
Zucchini fritti & (cheesy) stuffed mushrooms
Ravioli di Napoli & eggplant parmigiana
with a few glasses of Cabernet sauvignon

Zucchini fritti (first time I tasted it) was gorgeous, crispy, light, delicious - we asked for mayo which was obviously homemade and made it even better.
(Portion size - an oval bowl FULL)

The stuffed mushrooms were to die for, you have to order them if you go to Tony's!
Tasty, cheesy, oozing with butter and herbs.
(Five or six field mushrooms)

Ravioli di Napoli looked very tasty, cheese filling, sufficient enough... however Dad had actually ordered the Bolognese.
(Large pasta plate full)

Eggplant parmigiana was thick slices of eggplant, layered with tomato and mozzarella, tasty!
(Four chunky slices of eggplant)

We had two glasses of cabernet sauvignon, which was gorgeous too.

In summary:
- don't be mistaken in thinking it serves pizza, it doesn't
- authentic italian, tasty food
- white table cloths, meticulous waiters, and decent wine
- highly recommend the stuffed mushrooms
- it serves half or regular sized portions, half is plenty

“Molto Bene...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2012

Offering authentic Italian food to Midtown for over 50 years, Tony's Di Napoli is in one word....excellent. .

The meal started off with a calamari appetizer. Unlike many chain Italian restaurants, the dish was cooked properly. Our main course consisted of chicken parmesan and rigatoni in vodka sauce. Neither dish disappointed. The chicken was tenderized to where it could be separated with a fork and the vodka sauce was am excellent unique selection.

The only issue I can foresee in regards to Tony's is that it is family style. Therefore, all members of your party will have to agree on a selection.

Bottom line...skip Olive Garden! For a few dollars more, you can treat yourself to an unforgettable meal!
