Rockefeller Center is a "must-see" for any visit to New York City. A tour by an able guide is really best because alone one cannot appreciate or even see much that is important. It was built by the Rockefeller family in the 1930's but that family now has little involvement in it as the Rockefellers never wanted to burden their children or grandchildren with their philanthropies. One of the main features of the center is the Channel Gardens between the French Building and the British Empire Building, representing the English Channel that separates England and France. Among the many statues are Manship’s Prometeus Statue overlooking the Ice Skating Rink and Lawrie’s Atlas Holding Up the World at the entrance to the International Building. A nearby attraction is the gothic Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, New York’s premier Roman Catholic place of worship completed in 1880. Although not nearly as large as the Episcopal Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine, Saint Patrick’s is one of the most beautiful houses of worship in the city.

It was my first visit to New York and naturally I’d booked to do the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Centre.
It was a nice small group, only five of us and our tour guide, Jacob, was friendly, informative, didn’t rush us and the hour and 15 minutes seemed to fly by!
His knowledge of the building(s) was amazing and all of it very interesting. A tour really not to miss.

This amazing tour provides a fascinating insight into the history and design of the Rockefeller Centre, and highlights some incredible works of Art Deco that should not be missed.

A surprisingly good tour. Our guide was witty and well versed on the subject matter.

We didn't make reservations to go up in the Rockefeller center ahead of our visit, so when we tried to buy tickets at the desk, we had to wait 3 hours. The lovely cashier lady then thought for a minute and asked if we wanted to add the Rockefeller tour, which would let us go up right after. Yes, we did! She was so nice that she literally ran with us to get us to the tour in time as they were just leaving. I wish I had her name as I very much appreciated it!

The tour was about 75 minutes, very informing about the different buildings and all the art in it, our tour guide Lindsay had the best sense of humor, she was amazing! I was so glad that we by accident went on this nice tour, I really recommend it, I didn't know much about the history of the Rockefeller buildings so very interesting!

After the tour, Lindsay brought us to the top of the Rock line, which took a bit of time winding around and watching a short movie! Then up we went. View was great, I loved seeing Central park & Empire State building. It was very cold & windy (make sure to bring a scarf & hat) so we didn't stay super long. We loved every part of it though, must do!

We were unsure about taking the guided tour but as our booked time to the Top of the Rock was at least 2 hours away we decided to do it and WOW, we are so glad we did. Being Aussies we didn't know a great amount of the Rockefeller history but by the end of the tour we sure knew a lot more. The tour was so interesting and our guide Temu made the tour so much fun. His knowledge, humour and wit was an asset. The tour lasted around 1 hour 15 minutes and we just loved it, and Temu then escorted us through to the Top of the Rock queue, allowing us a bit earlier access. This is a great tour, I strongly recommend - you won't be disappointed.

My partner and I really wanted to do this tour and so glad we had time to, having travelled from the UK. The tour was so interesting and i only wish i could remember the tour guides name as he made the tour fun. The tour lasted for around 1 hour and 15 minutes and could not fault any of it. The guides do well to remember so much information. So, If you get the chance to do this tour, you won't be disappointed I'm sure. Only piece if advice I would give is, go to the restrooms first, as you don't stop for a break and when walking around outside, you won't feel like wandering off if you need to. The tour moves pretty quickly around, so you'll more than likely miss them.

Lindsay was our guide and she really knew her stuff. She was very engaging and didnt just shove facts at you. We didnt know what to expect and instead of just walking round the Rockefellar Centre, the tour does involve walking around the surrounding buildings and looking at the different architecture and designs. Learnt a lot and had fun at the same time! Would recommend if you have the time.

Thank you to Jonathan, our very entertaining tour guide. We were there on St Patrick's day so a few routes were blocked but we had a great time touring round and learning about the history of the building.

We had the combo ticket for this tour and to go to the Top of the Rock (separate review). Our guide fixed us up with audio receivers and headphones so we had no trouble hearing him during the tour. Rock Center is actually 19 buildings, so a lot of the tour is outside. The amount of art work that was commissioned for the project is amazing and our guide kept us entertained and informed the whole way. It's really a micro-history of NYC during the post-depression era and a tribute to Rockefeller (and his wife) who made it all happen. Well worth the time.
