Have eaten in this Chelsea Restaurant a number of times over the years. The food used to be pretty good, but now everything is just so-so. Menu changes & edits have nixed the couple of dishes that stood out for me. Staff has gotten indifferent & a bit snippy. This place is trying to do a number of things to stay afloat, such as hosting private parties Sat. & hiring drags to camp it up for Sun. brunch.

Been here several times because of its convenience for the pre fix. Pastas are generally fine, but portions are on the small side. Staff is fine. Just an average Italian meal.

Got Groupon 55$ for 2, appetizer, main course and dessert + bottle of wine. Restaurant has a nice decor, and attentive service, the food was good for the price paid. I would not have gone here to have a full price meal as they showed in the check ($120+.00). Also I do not feel that it is right to charge tax on/from the amount of the "would" be cost of ($120+.00), which was about 20 dollars and not from the groupon cost ($55) I didn't see anywhere in the Groupon stating that the tax would be from the "would be/original" cost. Felt like service was a bit hurried, as soon as we finished appetizer the entrée arrived =/
Gave four stars for that and misleading tax.

Came here also with a Groupon offer, and left more than satisfied. Sometimes Groupons from restaurants are a sign that they're going out of business and desperate, but at Intermezzo the impression given was that young people (mostly it seems from Montenegro) are making a serious attempt at success. I'm giving them an extra star to cut them some slack and wish them well. As for the courses, the servings were generous and seemed well-rehearsed for uniformity. We enjoyed tasting each others dishes: our favorite appetizer was the mussels, and the fried calamari was also very good. The pork main course won hands down, but the chicken parmigiana was delicious too. We selected the "red": an inexpensive but flavorful Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, 2011 (google it) -- it was a thoughtful accompaniment for an inexpensive but ambitious restaurant. For dessert we both ordered tiramisu -- chilled and satisfying. The wait-staff played their roles professionally, and kept a diplomatic eye on water glasses, so we never had to look around to snag someone for a refill. Sitting at an outdoor table and people-watching enhanced the funky (informal) Chelsea atmosphere. A friendly suggestion: the beautifully dressed young woman standing at the entrance to lure customers was gorgeous, but perhaps misplaced in this 'hood; a pretty boy might have been more effective. Just saying.

Came here with a Groupon deal- I consider it a Groupon scam- paid $55 for the Groupon for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine. We were allowed to choose from the same prix fixe menu that was being offered that evening for the same thing for 20.95 per person without the wine (which maybe cost $25). We were charged a $22 TIP included for 18% of the $126 "value" though the same menu was being sold for approximately $67 ($20.95 * 2 + a bottle inexpensive wine) that very evening. There is NO WAY This meal was worth $126 by the way. PLUS TAX on the full $126 "Value." The restaurant has not responded to my email complaints or repeated telephone calls 8 days later. I consider that I was scammed on this one, and I will never go back to this place.
