After being around the hustle and bustle of New York, stepping into the relative quiet of Central Park and the John Lennon Memorial was lovely, even the other tourists seemed more calm and smiling after a few moments, very well worth a visit..

A modest tribute to a man who gave the world so much. A simple mosaic inlay with the words "Imagine" is hardly the most awe inspiring memorial you'll ever find (note: the actual memorial WAS hard to find!!) but nevertheless it is still worth paying a mark of respect visit. Adorned with a single red rose when I visited.

Again, on our list of things to do whilst in NYC but found this tribute is a little underwhelming if I am honest. Cracked, dirty, small and walked over. Certainly not a fitting memorial to a legend like John Lennon.

The best bit was the guy sat on the bench on the walk up to the memorial offering to make you smile for a dollar....the sign offering the service made us smile in itself, so he had already earned his dollar!

All in all, if you are in the area visit but I wouldn't make a special journey to do so.

We visited here at Christmas, the weather was the hottest day on record for the 22nd of December . There were plenty of other tourists visiting the memorial however there was no massive queue to see it properly, there was a young musician sat near by playing Beatles songs which all made for a poignant moment.

Being neither a big Beatles or John Lennon fan we still went to see the memorial and gardens but felt these were simply ok. If you are in New York for first time and by central park then do go and visit as an add on to the park.
