Wasn't totally sure what to expect from the outside but the whole experience was just wonderful!!

The place is deceptively big so even though it looked packed (and was!) they still found us a table, The service was a superb blend of attentive but in no way intrusive and best of all, in no way pushy!! More and more when we go out I'm sick of being lectured about what they are 'featuring' it's rubbish, it's a standard item on the menu that they have to much of and need to shift some! Rant over, Pete's didn't do that at all and the service was superb.

Food was great, huge choice on the menu and we all had fairly different stuff and it was all spot on. Clean plates all round,

Another interesting feature, and I believe endorsement of the place, is the number of celebrity pics on the wall. At first I noticed a few in the WC (Johnny Depp most notably) and then as I came out, realised they were everywhere!!

Cannot recommend this place enough a must visit.

1st night in NYC and picked this one cause close to the place we were staying: surprisingly crowded for a wed night, lots of young adults having drinks and fun (and being very loud!!). Veryoriginal and genuine atmosphere and place. We did not go there for the food but just for a drink, but ended up eating a good veggie burger and salad.

First night in NYC and wanted something close Tom my hotel. Place was crazy busy, thought it would take the jaws of life to get me in/ out but one in it was fine. Fun bartender and a surprisingly good burger. Would recommend if it's not bursting at the seams.

Have now extoled the virtues of this establishment for two months. The recommendation came from a friendly bar man on 7th Avenue. Couldn't rate it highly enough. During the day time a family friendly environment. Great food, staff were great with our baby and....... they brew their own ale in the basement! Need I say more......Stay away because it's my discovery!

we went there following tripadvisor reviews since in the union square area and wanted a place to have an informal tasty dinner..the first impression was not the best..one employee pointed us from the other side of the street offering a table outside as the worst 'little Italy' style..we got in anyway and asked for a table inside..lots of pictures of actors came there in the past and environment looks nice inside..but unfortunately it was not Hollywood but a bad food experience..let's talk about the food..the ribs (plate of the day as written on the blackboard) was finished as well as other 2 main courses (and it was 9.30pm only..)..so we did choose two burgers (1 rib burger 18.95$!!! + 1 oh' Henry roma burger)..rib burger didn't worth so much money at all, really low/average.. and the Henry roma had a big stratum of poor quality mozzarella and fat oily potatoes on a side..we ate something commenting among us that it was not definitely the best choice for that evening and when was the time to pay the 'best' had yet to come..the waiter opened the bill in front of us and when he discovered that the tip was not 15-20% he claimed and also 'suggested' to put minimum 8 $!! what a style!! we refused his free suggestion and left 6 that it was a big gift compared to the whole dinner situation..we will not come again and we will not recommend Pete's tavern to our worst enemy!
