This is your classic Irish pub with good food, friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks. Not sure if we were there on a slow night, though e sat upstairs and were able to have a conversation without shouting. Not easy to find in New York.

We had a meal in the upstairs restaurant area on Friday evening. Food and service was pretty good but not outstanding. We were a party of 6 and the mussels to start and ribs for main were the most popular dishes.
However, just as we were finishing our drinks after the meal an almighty fight broke out in the downstairs bar, shouting and screaming and tables/bottles being thrown. We did not investigate as it sounded quite scary. The commotion did die down and we were about to leave when the fight/screaming started up again, but this time from the kitchen area on the upper floor near us (the people involved, who included the staff, must have gone up by a back staircase). Needless to say we exited quickly (running).
This is not something I expect from a $300 meal. I recommend avoiding at all costs.

My wife and I were seated on the second floor. First floor is the bar and on friday evening very lively. We both had the Steak-Dinner (25US$). The service was friendly and accurate. The steak was very good and very well seasoned. We can recommend this place.

Have consistently enjoyed this midtown bar and Irish restaurant, both lunch and dinner, and, on occasion, with larger groups.

I always check out the specials, generally reasonably priced.

Ale-battered fresh (cod) Fish & Chips, $17, is consistently good, as are the salads.

Wide assortment of quality brews on tap, including Sierra Nevada Pale Ale , Goose Island, and Guinness.

Tip: Back room, first floor, is quietest area.
