“A Can't Miss Restaurant in New York's Chinatown”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

I have been going to the Peking Duck House on Mott Street for many years. The food is great, the service is very attentive, and its always an enjoyable experience. We always have the Peking Duck which, with one recent exception, is excellent. This past weekend was the first time we thought the duck was a little greasy, but it still was delicious. Have ordered many other items on their menu and have never been disappointed. I particularly recommend their House Steak and the Sizzling Beef and Scallops. No matter what you order, Chicken, Beef, Seafood, Vegetables or even just Soup, you'll love it and come back time and time again for more. Wish they had more room in the restaurant though.... : )

“Lunch in August delicious duck dreadful service.”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

We ordered soup and duck for three for a lunchtime meal. Waiter said we could only have two soups and only served two although we were a party of three! Duck delicious pancakes luke warm. Order 4 extra pancakes charged 4 dollars. Waiter was surly to the point of rudeness. Would choose not to eat there again even though the duck was delicious. Wish now we had deducted the gratuity which was auto magically added to our bill. Have never experienced such poor service in a restaurant in the US like this before.

“Great Chinese”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

It can be a daunting task to choose among the many restaurant options in Chinatown. This place should make that choice easy. The decor is upscale by Chinatown standards. The prices are reasonable for New York City and the service is excellent: not rushed but not slow either. The food was well prepared and served hot. The portions are generous. I intend to visit this place again.

“Excellent Peking Duck outside China!”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

We had dinner in Peking Duck House in Chinatown NYC with our family with three teenage kids. All of us simply love Peking Duck and have some experience eating this since we spent a lot of time in China. This one was one of the best we experienced so far outside China! It is great if the Chef de Cuisine will come to your table to slice it himself. We had the feeling being in China. Service is excellent and it demonstrates that a great meal does not need to take hours. I can absolutely recommend this restaurant.

“My Peking Duck fix”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

On a beautiful Sunday in the city we’ve met up with friends and have had brunch, checked out Fishs Eddy, shopped and sipped at Eataly and caroused at the Ace Hotel. So naturally, we have to head to Chinatown for dinner. It’s impossible to find decent Chinese food where we live (South Carolina) so we always head to the Peking Duck House when we’re in New York. It’s been in Chinatown for at least thirty years and upgraded its décor about ten years ago...it’s a step up from formica tables.

Since we’re a little tipsy, we just order the Special Duck Dinner for 6. For $31 per person you get a duck with all the trimmings. And a trio of appetizers: dumplings, spring rolls and BBQ beef. And a choice of soup: hot & sour or special duck. And a choice of four entrees (from about 15); ours are general Tso’s chicken, sliced beef and scallops, fried sliced prawns and crispy string beans with minced pork. And dessert.

A chef carves the whole duck at a nearby table. It’s delicious. All the food was very good and since our eyes were bigger than our tummies there was lots to take home.

The only downside is the wine “list”; they have a white (pinot grigio) and a red. From boxes no doubt. So, I had a beer. My wife noticed that a table near us had a bottle so you can apparently bring your own. I need to keep that in mind for next time.

Service was very solicitous the entire time.
