To take a walk along High Line gives a new view of the city. As it is situated on the west side it also makes it possible to visit a fairly new area in Mahattan.

Walking along an old disused railway line that has been tremendously rejuvenated with decking and shrubs etc.
You can stop off at Chelsea market for refreshments.
Some of the graffiti along the way is brilliant and the views across the Hudson are breathtaking.
Well worth a visit.

We incorporated this into a run we did that also extended down the West Hudson coast path down to battery park. A fine way to take in the city and its views.

This is such a wonderful thing to see - a disused railway line re-imagined as a public park and walkway. It’s just so cool walking along 30ft above ground level between tall skyscrapers - it’s surreal and truly beautiful. Don’t miss it.

The walk on the High Line was not on my list of things to do and see in New York but having been twice to New York before, my family suggested we give it a try.
We walked down from Broadway which took a little longer than expected but once we got there I was a little disappointed as I hadn’t realised that there was a hill on the old railway path but once up amongst the buildings I really enjoyed myself and seeing the city in a completely different way was both exhilarating and relaxing as it was the opposite to the action packed tours we had been on before.
I would 100% recommend this to anyone as it was a well thought out use of an old railway and brilliant experience!

Its the second time I visited and walk on the High line and I can warmly recommend doing so. There are great views over the Hudson river. There is lots to see and plenty of places to sit and people watch.

This is a great idea done well. We had a very pleasant walk at night, along the High Line which was a perfect getaway from everything. It was busy but without the usual agressiveness of a New York street. Have a walk, sit and people watch or even just sit and relax. Plenty of entrances and exits. No matter where you exit there's something to see.

The minute you step into the entrance ramp, you are transported into an environment that is relaxing, you forget you are in the middle of the city. The views are amazing.

At the end of the day it’s a glorified walking path. And a busy one at that. Some interesting views and the Chelsea Market is fun. The novelty wears off fast.
