So confession time -I am an urban planner, and the High Line definitely appealed to the planning geek in me. But the High Line is above all a place for people -it is a visionary linear open space created from an abandoned, above-grade rail line. Would highly recommend spending an afternoon there. I visited in the dead of winter (albeit on a beautiful sunny day), and enjoyed every minute of it. Of course, the best part is that it is free-people on any budget / income level can enjoy it.

I love the High Line. Have now walked it from end to end during my last two visits to NYC. It seems it has definitely become way more popular now than last year, especially on weekends. It is a beautiful stroll above ground, great views of the top portion of the Empire State building and even a glimpse of the Chrysler building in the distance. Allow yourself enough time to really enjoy the walk and bring your good and comfy walking shoes!

After visiting Chelsea Market we decided that we would walk the High Line. I find that it is an interesting concept however feel that it is not living up to its full potential. If you are a plant enthusiast, like I am, it was a bit disappointing to see over grown plants and lack of or poor identification and description. The park does boast some great views and kodak moments.

After exploring the streets of NYC, this presented a perfect way to escape the busy sidewalks. This parklike walk was filled with native plants and a way to view the city in a very calming way.

This was the coolest place. A friend joining us in the city for the day advised us she read about this place and wanted to visit it. It was her birthday, so we decided to all go for a walk and check it out. All 3 of us ladies in our 50's were glad we did! What a neat walkway area. We walked from one end to the other and had a lovely chat together along the way.
Lots of benches and areas to sit and eat your bag lunch, read a book, or just enjoy being outdoors and watching other folks walk by.

If you are in the mood for a pretty stroll - I would recommend you check this out! You will enjoy the hard work of some very dedicated people who created this place. Simply put........ a must see while visiting the city. Lovely, quiet and tranquil place to take a walk and see some plants, flowers and some neat views between buildings.
