Spent just one night for an anniversary celebration. The staff members were fantastic. Just flat out nice people. We were brought complimentary fruit, water and wine just a few hours after arrival. While out for dinner, we were left snacks! The umbrellas in the room were key...it rained at dinner time! Breakfast was very nice, and they make good coffee. I had flowers delivered, and the staff cared for them, arranged them and presented them to the room wonderfully. The shower...yes, the shower, was amazing, as was the BIG tub. And when we left, the fella's downstairs flat out refused to let me carry the bags. Maybe they thought we were royalty...they made us feel as if we were. This place is just great.

Room Tip: Been here a few...sleep on the south side, or go high floor. The partying out on Rivington Steet goe...

We stayed for 4 days at the On Rivington Hotel. In the beginning we were a little bit worried about the district the hotel is located in, but we realized shortly that it is a very hip and upcoming district with lots of interesting places and shops & restaurants. The On Rivington is a pearl of hotel with outstanding service and hospitality, large rooms and a dedicated interior.
A few minutes walk away from New York underground one can reach every point of the City. Perfect starting point for walking around NY.

Hello Kai P! Thank you for your sincere 5 Circle Review. We appreciate your feedback here on TripAdvisor. It's true, the Lower East Side neighborhood is home to many trendy boutique shops, an array of excellent restaurants and lots of cutting edge art galleries making it an ideal place to explore and revel in NYC.
Hope all is well in Hamburg!

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with a warm good afternoon by the bellman. The reception desk on the 2nd floor were also very welcoming especially Christina, who explained everything & answered all our questions. She later assisted us in arranghing a car to take us to the theatre. We had booked a corner king roomfor 1 night, but were upgraded to a larger room on a higher floor. The room was amazing & the views spectacular. Even the balcony was spacious, a rarity in NYC. Every staff member we came across always greeted you with a smile. I will definitley come back & recommend to others. It went much too fast for my wife & I, but we did the make the most of our 24 hours. Keep it up Hotel on Rivington!!!!

if you want to avoid the tourist traps and really experience NYC like you just moved to the trendiest new up and coming part of town - not the "Disney Version" of New York this is def the hotel. Location is amazing walking distance to most interesting parts of the city and the only thing that tops the location is the service and the room. Top floor king corner room - amazing view and we even were able to check in early thanks to "Johnny" (not sure of last name i think it was Johnny Houston) anyway he really made the day considering we had taken red eye from west coast and needed to rest early and recharge for the day in the city. Would def book this again in a heartbeat

Hotel on Rivington

We loved our stay at the Hotel on Rivington.

The location is excellent - very close to Chinatown, Soho and the Lower East Side which is full of excellent galleries and quirky shops and bars. If you are looking for a less gentrified, still authentic corner of Manhattan, this is it. Don’t be fooled by the entrance hall - you aren’t walking into a bordello... Quite the contrary.
We had a corner King room with soaking tub. The room was spacious and well-laid out. The tub was phenomenal - one of the most comfortable (and large!) baths I have yet had the pleasure of soaking in. The view from the shower (and the rest of the room) is fantastic. The bathroom amenities (a range called davines) were exceptional. Try to get a room on a higher floor (we were on the 15th floor) as this allows you to get a view across the city, rather than of the adjacent buildings.
Service was excellent and every night we came home to a new bedtime snack. The hotel provided complimentary water, which I always think should be compulsory in places that charge as much as these do. The staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
We didn’t have breakfast in the hotel, but would go around the corner to the Vita coffee shop or Bluebird (on E 1st and 1st Ave) for our morning fix. Both were excellent.

Despite the fact that the one of two elevators was broken for the duration of our stay (no small thing in a hotel with 20 floors and a problem the staff dealt with with flair and aplomb), we loved the Rivington and would gladly return.
(I loved the decor in their restaurant - a series of portraits of NY personalities was very well done.)

Room Tip: Choose a room on a higher floor - 15th and higher - to benefit from the fantastic view over Manhatta...

Hello JezebelleH! Wow, we are your 49th TripAdvisor review! We really appreciate you sharing your very qualified experience here on TripAdvisor.
Very glad you enjoyed the soaking tub. It is one of our signature amenities and really allows our guests to relax and ease the stress away after a day of tackling NYC. The bedtime treats are our little "thank you" and its the little attentions to detail that we try to make sure are included with every guest's stay.
I apologize for the inconvenience regarding our elevator maintenance. Of course safety is of utmost importance and I thank you for your patience and understanding.
So happy to hear of your return, we are looking forward to it. Come see me (Im also the Head Concierge) and I'll let you in on my new favorite spot for my "morning fix". :)

All the Best,
Adam

booked HF corner king w/ shower, requested as high a floor as possible. got the 19th floor. awesome view. room had balcony, but its small enough that you can't sit out on it, just stand,

Pros.
-awesome view.
HF corner king with shower rooms go as high as the 19 floor, vs HF kings with tubs not quite as high. (and I believe that's the same as the suites.
-front desk is very patient about explaining all the differences between the different rooms.
-shower with exterior window looking out over NYC
-floor to ceiling windows
-southeast view of bridges, city etc.
-safe for laptop
-good mattress
-no city noise to speak of from our room
-good light for reading in bed
-great shower/water pressure
-great location on Lower East Side, near subway, cool shops/restaurants, walk to SOHO/East village
-near citibike share bikes.
-pool table in lobby, as well as computer/printer
-one block from subway

Cons-
none really

other notes-
regarding the floor to ceiling windows, check out room photos and you will see some "frosted" panels. these are for privacy. I would have preferred all see thru windows, but I can see why the hotel did it this way. also, we didn't really use the balcony and the while the balcony doesn't block the view, it doesn't enhance it either. But don't misunderstand me, the view was awesome and we were thrilled with the room and to be up so high. And we would stay again at this hotel in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: HF corner king on southeast side w/ view of bridges, these rooms go as high as the 19th floor. reque...

There is no easy path to a 5 star review as those should include brilliance at every touch point. The Hotel on Rivington does most everything right but the small misses do add up. We had an 18th floor suite which was very cool and spacious. The bathroom shower and tub were awesome, in the corner, with wall to wall windows overlooking the city. Truly an experience. The staff works hards and Nadia at the front desk is a rock star. Quick check in, lovely glass of wine in the lobby, and a great bell hop. Really the only miss was a day two encounter with a less than fully engaged front desk team who felt a 5 minute extension of happy hour was too much for a guest to request. This may fall on those two employees but management needs to stay vigilant in the pursuit of a great experience and teach their people how to add the magic. We would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to another stay in the future.

Room Tip: Get an upper floor room and with a corner bathroom.
