We stayed for 4 nights in Dec 2012 and had a corner king on the 16th floor. Hotel lobby and hallways are a bit dark and, if im honest, a bit strange, but the room more than makes up for it. Great views across Manhattan, with the Empire State at the foot of our bed and the Williamsburg Bridge to the right. Showering with a view of the Empire State building was fantastic. The room was clean and not a bad size for a New York hotel. Linen, beds and toiletries were good too.

LES is a great place to visit. Great bars and shops. Hotel within easy reach of the subway and walking distance for Chinatown (fascinating shops), Little Italy (beautiful at Christmas) and SOHO, great shopping. Must do breakfast or brunch at the Clinton Street Bakery and for a good burger go to NOHO Star on Lafayette St.

Room Tip: Go for a high floor for great views

we where staying for two nights and had two suits. The rooms where nice decorated and the showers had a spectacular view! And waking up in the king size bed with an overview of the city is something one could get used to. The staff where friendly and the doorman Lester helped us out in a very nice and proffesional way.

Room Tip: Room 117 has great showers

Cool, trendy hotel in Lower East Side. Great location with many bars, restaurants and shops right outside the front door. Decor is a bold mix of reds and blacks. Can make the hallways a bit dark but still OK. Room was typical New York size but still a bit cramped with just walking space around the bed. Had a very nice foam covered matress that shaped itself to the body and was very comfortable. We stayed on a Friday night so had a bit of noise as the bars closed down around 3am. Made up for by cool view!

We stayed here in December for 4 nights and had a corner king on the 18th floor. Stunning views of the city and a nerve wracking balcony made this a unique experience . Shower with a view of the Brooklyn bridge before wandering down to Katz's for a sandwich or see a band in one of the many great venues in the LES. Tip go for a room as high as you can for the views and to keep the New York street noise at bay

This hotel exceeded expectations in every category.
First of all, the feel of the place is amazing. From the deep reds of the lobby to the walls of windows in the rooms. A room with a balcony makes an incredible difference and the staff was incredible.

I loved the locations, cute bars line all the nearby streets. I cannot wait to come back
Thanks!
Alyssa

I booked this hotel for a weekend stay after reading a lot of positive reviews. The location was perfect for what we had planned - very close to the subway in the LES. I am a frequent traveler, both for business and pleasure, and tend to stay in 4-5 star establishments.

Upon entering the hotel, my first observation was that the flooring, elevators and walls looked worn.

I stayed on the fifth floor. My first impression of the hallway was that it resembled a renovated old apartment building, with cramped hallways painted a dark purple (which only added to the dungeon like feeling). The room is a decent size, large compared to other NY rooms I have stayed in. However, the room I stayed in was really run down and the hotel in general is starting to show its age.

The carpets were quite dirty - my socks were dirty after a few hours of wear in the room. The pillows were worn and did not provide any support.

The bathroom is tiled with black mosaic tiles and there was a lot of mold in the grout and on the tiles of the shower floor and walls, and the corners of the bathroom. The shower also had a strong mildew smell. The toilet was very temperamental and did not always flush. This was related to water pressure problems in the bathroom - at times we had to run the shower and the sink faucets at the same to relieve pressure build up in the pipes (at one point I thought the pipe might burst from the sound that was coming from it).

A number of standard amenities that are commonly available in 4-5 star hotels were not provided - there was no luggage stand, iron or ironing board.

I would not recommend this hotel for travelers who are accustomed to staying in 4-5 star establishments. The hotel is fairly run down and feels more like a 3 star establishment.

Hotel on Rivington is by far my favorite hotel I've stayed at in NY. I recently spent the last weekend in a Studio King and I couldn't be more pleased. The room was huge, clean, and modern. The staff was friendly and helpful upon checking in and throughout our stay. The location is great, right in the middle of all the restaurants and bars in the Lower East Side. It's also walking distance to all the shopping in Soho. I will not hesitate to stay there again.
