Description: Set on Park Avenue South, between 28th and 29th Streets, Brasserie Les Halles serves a collection of classic dishes from the finest brasseries in Paris. The speciality of the house is the French Cuts of Meats, simply char-grilled and served with award-winning French Fries. Les Halles' long list of various steaks comes from the in-house butcher. The French butchering technique looks for unique qualities in each cut, providing different tastes and textures in each type of steak. Les Halles buys Prime American beef, naturally tenderised by two weeks of wet aging. The beef is then dry aged in-house for 21 days at 36-degrees Fahrenheit to concentrate the flavours. The original plaster mouldings in the restaurant date from the early 1900's, when the building was erected to house a restaurant specialising in healthy foods. The most famous menu item at the time - a blend of fresh vegetable juice to order - was later licensed and bottled under the brand V8! The large menu is designed to accommodate all tastes, appetites and budgets, and free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout.

“Very french but very NYC!”

What a great surprise!!! This is the restaurant Anthony Boudain started in. Completely packed with the locals (not surprised-good sign). Anything with duck on the menu were to die for!!!!!!!!! Good recommendations with wine pairings. Little crammed but would go back!

“True to its intent, a nice basic french bistro in nyc”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

We checked into our hotel rather late, and were tired and hungry. The desk recommended we try Les Halles, just a few blocks away, and a happy referral it was. The room is nice, the service was very good, well-informed recommendations on the wines, and the food very good as well. She had the burger with foie, which was excellent, and I the roast chicken which was likewise quite good. The escargot were nothing to write home about, but that's ok. the only real disappointment was that they ran out of the steak tartare, which I was really looking forward to. Also, the noise level was a bit high. not just because it was a busy room with lots of hard surfaces, but the music was a bit much, to our minds. Still, a very happy experience that we would not hesitate to try again.

Reviewed April 28, 2013

We stayed at 28th Street so this was really close to us.Fantastic find.Staff friendly and after a cocktail or two the meal was worth the 20 minute wait.I had Steak Frites with the best chips i have ever had! Waiter friendly and very attentive.Great atmosphere and although really busy and fairly noisey we all really enjoyed the place .

“Super breakfast - just order the pastry baskets!”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

We made reservations for a Sunday morning based on online recommendations, but we were early, 9:30, so we didn't need them. The breakfast options were very good, but the best thing were the pastries. We ordered breakfast entrees plus a pastry basket for two (there were three of us). Next time, we'll just order the breakfast pastry basket (or baskets)! The pastries were over the top! So light and flaky and the jelly and fruit spread were absolutely perfect for the pastry. They serve French Press coffee that is also perfect in my book.

“Pretty good French fare”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Fabulously busy place, we had the standards. Roquefort salad, onion soup, cassoulet and steak frites. The steak was a little cold, however the rest was, as you'd expect, really good. Absolutely heaving with people, we were still seated within about five minutes of our arrival for our 9 o'clock table. Efficient staff, and just what we expected.
