I booked a trip to NYC for the Fireworks and chose this hotel for its location and I was not disappointed. It is located about 1 block from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station which is how I got there. Going to NYC by train is the best option. It is 4 blocks from the Empire State Building, 1.3 mile from Times Square and 2.2 miles from Central Park. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, they even let us check in early so we could start touring the city right away. They have a good continental breakfast and clean rooms. The rooms might seem a little small but they compare to most hotels in NYC. There also is a buffet across the street that features a lot of different dishes. My only comment that I would say that would be a little negative is the elevators (2) are slow but not that big of deal since I didn’t spend that much time in the Hotel. There is also a great Iris Pub 1/2 block away called O'Reilley's that is awesome, good food, cold beer and great prices. Highly recommend and will stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the street side for a better view.

TheHotel on 33 rd steet is well priced and is in a convenient location. Parking rates are typical for NYC but it is coveniently located across the street. Breakfast was great. Lots of choices. The staff is excellent. I would stay there again.

We needed an easy location to walk to Penn station for the morning train to Montreal. This hotel was comfortable and fitted the bill perfectly. Our only disappointments were noisy neighbours in the next room and a buzzing air conditioner. Otherwise an excellent stay.

The highlight of this stay: the room was clean and quiet. The downsides, on the other hand, were many in number. First, the room so small that it was like being in a coffin. My luggage cart was trapped in the doorway when I arrived. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the wallpaper was torn from where people had tried to move their suitcases out of the room. The closet was unusable, but at least it had a safe.

Secondly, the beds were like slabs. I woke every morning with back pain. The breakfast was mediocre, but that's normal for Hampton Inns. In NYC, however, a free breakfast is rare.

Next time I want to stay in this area, I'll go down the street- to the Hotel Pennsylvania. It may be decrepit, but at least the rooms are livable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a king bed.

Although the hotel is clean and quiet at night, the rooms are just too small for families. There is no closet space or area to place your luggage. There is no dresser. There is an armoire in the room, but it is stuffed with an iron, an ironing board, and a safe, so it is not a useful space.

On way back from DC
Stayed here to save some money vs in times sq not too bad of a walk so that was good
Down for the room was a wet floor soaked it seemed but one night and lots of bags so we dealt with it
Its NYC for 200+ a night so small room to be expected
Breakfast was nice and not too crowed even with a site seeing group we actually got one of the outside tables
So other than the wet spot this was a good stay
For parking they validate only down side is the lot is just before hotel so after unpack had to go around again to park and NYC traffic means another 10 minute

We stayed in the Hampton Inn – Madison Square Garden on the last stop of our trip to America. We arrived by train from Vermont and the hotel is a 10 minute walk from Penn Station (and easy to get to). They have recently been doing some building work around the hotel but there is just empty land (no noise) at the moment.

We had booked online last year and paid extra for a city view room but the reception staff advised us that they no longer offered city view rooms but we were not offered a discount on the price we had paid. The room was clean and a fair size (for a room in New York, we’ve stopped in smaller rooms). The hotel is in a good location and Broadway, the Empire State Building and other tourist places are well within walking distance. A bonus for this hotel is the breakfast included in the price, it’s not amazing but its good and you can help yourself to a variety of options.

I would recommend staying at the Hampton Inn, its more affordable than many hotels, the breakfast is a bonus and it’s in a good location. I would have given it 5 stars if I had been informed that they no longer offered city view rooms and I had been given a discount on the room fee that I had paid.
