My family and I visted in January based on reviews. We ordered pasta, tuna, cod and a veal dish. All were well prepared, high quality with good portions. Kid friendly. Pleasant interior - equally good for a romantic dinner or a family outing (good distance between tables) and relatively quick service. No pretensions. Low risk nice experience if you are looking for a solid, nice dinner in the Gramercy area.

I have been going to Giorgio's for over a decade now. My experiences with the staff, food and ambiance have always contributed to a stellar experience. James, the host and sommelier for many years, was the biggest reason for this. He was the first face upon entering the restaurant and was the quintessential sommelier and grand host. In addition, we have raved about this place to dozens of friends, who also had a wonderful experience.

Who then is this new guy, the new host Josh? He does not know how to interact effectively with Nick Gramm, the owner's, customers. He lacks finesse and is downright obstinate about where you have to sit. We encountered him twice in one month, the latter on Christmas Eve, when I would rather have left, but my partner wanted to stay.

Josh, at the front of the house, is bad for business. He is undertrained. I, for one, am prepared to take my business elsewhere, even after a longstanding and great relationship here.

It's New York City, after all, and I will find another tried and true favorite. How utterly disappointing!

We were visiting NYC for NYE and wanted a nice dinner without a huge process involved! Giorgio's was perfect - we got a reservation for two the night of and were very pleased. The service was good and the food was great! And what pleased us the most was the reasonable prices - we have definitely paid much more for less, especially in New York.
I hope they keep it the way it is! A real gem!

Giorgio's was within walking distance on this latest trip to NY on business. It was frigid cold and we we trying to stay close. I noticed the positive reviews and we went without reservations and had an excellent meal. From the appetizers to the deserts, we were very pleased and would recommend it to anyone. The service was very nice. Thank you Giorgio's.

We had one of our best meals ever here last night. The service was top notch. (They provided a little flashlight with which to read the menus, nice touch.) The food was even better. We started w/ a tasty amuse bouche of fresh crab on a cucumber slice. We shared the octopus with ink pasta that was perfectly cooked. It's easy to shortcut the cooking of octopus and make it chewy, but this was melt in your mouth good. Mixed with a delicate fra diavalo type spicy sauce. For mains we had the scallops and the special grouper. Both perfectly cooked with a wonderful mix of flavor and textures. Neither fell into the common restaurant trap of being heavy handed with the butter to provide a false sense of good flavor. We did not feel slimed at the end of this meal. With our wonderful s'more desert we were provided gratis moscato di 'asti to finish off the meal. And, the prices were really good, especially considering this is New York.
