“Shabu shabu for the win!”

This is a great little place! We love both the shabu shabu and the yakiniku. You get a lot of food to cook right at your table. One of the best places in the city, truly.

“The best”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

I just love sukiyaki. I have been eating it at various restaurants for over 50 years. It is very difficult today to find a restaurant in New York with a cook it at your table rather than in the kitchen. There was a place in my neighborhood – Murray Hill – on Lexington Avenue where we ate at least once a week on Sundays. Unfortunately it closed. We then spent the next year looking for a replacement and the only place that we found up to the standards we wanted was this restaurant. The food and service at the simple place is just top notch. They take reservations for four more. It is always crowded and deservedly. If there are only two of us we try and get there at about 4:45 PM before they opened for dinner or for lunch before they close at 3 PM. The other night we went and just loved everything we had. The people working there could not be more attentive.

“Excellent Japanese place”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

I went to Shabu-Tatsu with friends and it was a great meal! everything on the table was absolutely delicious! i had the tofu, vegetarian gyoza and mushrooms, and my friends had meat Shabu-Shabu. it was delicious! also it is so much fun to sit around for a while and enjoy dinner together - it gives you an opportunity to really make a full night out of your dinner. we took a bottle of sake too and in the end the meal was not even very expensive. highly recommended!

“Fun and good”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

We have come here a few times. The kids love it. Hot, damp washcloths to greet you, a varied menu, cozy atmosphere. Fun to cook our own food right at the table, We get the beef, chicken, and shrimp. I don't know what's better the soup at the end that you have made, or the green tea icecream. Would be a great place to meet friends.

“Good Japanese experience in New York”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Small restaurant, small table but we manage to eat with 7 friends. The shabu-shabu was a new experience for most of us. I was not amazed by the meal but the meat was good.

This was a good Japanese experience in New York.
