Description: John's of Bleecker Street is a historic pizzeria founded in 1929 by Italian immigrant John Sasso. It serves quintessentially New York coal-fired pizza, famous for its perfect brick-oven baked crust and zesty tomato sauce. John's is still family owned and operated, and boasts such celebrities as Conan O'Brien, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Danny DeVito. In 2016, it was voted #2 in America in the nationwide poll conducted by MSN.

I have had pizza all over the North East...from the best in Connecticut to New Jersey and NYC. Johns is the best.... hands down!! They cook these amazing pies in coal fired ovens. The smokey flavor permeates every bite. If you plan to go...go as soon as they open. Usually within 30 minutes there is an ever increasing line. People don't come here for the waitstaff or their personalities (not very friendly and often in a hurry) they come for the pizza. If you want the true NY pizza experience...its gotta' be Johns!

Great Service, Great Pizza!! The Chocolate Souffle was spectacular. Don't come at 12pm because it gets really crowded if you want to eat lunch here get at least at 11:40am.

Usually John’s on Bleeker is always busy with a line out the door but we were lucky and got in quick. We ordered a large pep & mushroom and asked for it to be “crispy.”

The pizza, although left in the oven maybe a minute or two too long, was awesome.

The restaurant itself is also a great place and truly a New York Classic.

Only downside is the staff is not the most outgoing or pleasant in the City but the Pizza really makes up for it.

Even if you go and see a line I would suggest if you have time to wait it out – it’s worth the wait. Well, a reasonable wait.
