Description: John's of Bleecker Street is a historic pizzeria founded in 1929 by Italian immigrant John Sasso. It serves quintessentially New York coal-fired pizza, famous for its perfect brick-oven baked crust and zesty tomato sauce. John's is still family owned and operated, and boasts such celebrities as Conan O'Brien, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Danny DeVito. In 2016, it was voted #2 in America in the nationwide poll conducted by MSN.

“The best pizza in NYC”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

This is such a cool pizza place... Came here on a rainy day and it seemed almost perfect. It's in the SoHo/Village part of town which is hip and trendy, and this restaurant reflects that. Kind of a cool edgy place. Pizza is delish; and slices are NY style and HUGE. Prices are affordable. Service is average. In all, a must go to. Fab.

“NYC Pizza done right”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

We had dinner here the last night we were in town and it was amazing. Old, small pizza place since 1929 (I think). They know what they are doing and the pizza was delicious. We tried other pizza places and this was by far the best. As far as the service they do not make a lot of conversation, but they are anything but rude. Old school New Yorkers. It is cash only, but they have an ATM on the premise. The sausage and mushrooms were fresh as well as all of the other ingredients. Check this place out, it is a must.

“As Good as Always”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Whatever your favorite pizza place is, everyone else will tell you that you're wrong, and their place is better. I welcome everyone to their opinion, and won't argue: I simply hope that they enjoy their place as much as I enjoy John's.

It is my go-to spot everytime I'm in the city, it has never let me down, and I'm already planning my return trip.

“Good Pizza, Mediocre Service”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

We saw this place on a list of top pizza places in NYC and was in Greenwich Village so we gave it a try. After a short wait in line we were seated in a small booth near the front. The waiters seemed angry and like they didn't want to be there. One in particular slammed down our plates and threw down the water cups at us like he couldn't be bothered. We had trouble getting anyone to come over and give us a refill as well. The bathroom is smaller then a closet and dirty. The toilet is smashed against the wall behind a trashcan and if someone wanted to, they could watch you through the giant gaps in the door. The pizza itself was amazing. We got a half sliced meatball/ricotta and half plain cheese pizza. We loved it and ate every last bite. Other then poor service and bathroom, we recommend.
