This is an Old World Italian deli that takes you back to a different time. They have been around since 1900 so they are doing a few things right.
Loved the aroma when you walk in and seeing the various meats, cheeses and Italian delicacies. The selections are abundant and can be overwhelming in a good way. I came here for the Heros/Subs but decided to also try the Prosciutto bread (Parisi-the bigger size). Whoever thought of freshly baked bread infused with Prosciutto-thank you! Just the right salty/savory from the Prosciutto and the bread was amazing!
Now for the Subs. Yes they are $15 and up but one of these is enough for 2 if not 3. Ordered the Chicken Pesto and the Porchetta (Roast Pork) with Sun dried tomatoes. Pesto was amazing combined with the Chicken cutlet and fresh Mozzarella. I can see why this is one of the most popular selections. The Porchetta was ok. Very generous with the meat but it wasn’t seasoned/salty enough for me & I prefer the pulled and chunky variety. The Sun dried tomatoes helped as they gave it a different twist and taste as I’ve had other versions of the Porchetta sandwich with Rabe before. Will order the Italian next time for sure. Also saw prosciutto and rice balls as well potato croquettes-next time!
All behind the counter were friendly and the sandwiches were made quickly and delivered with a smile. A must stop when in NYC!
