“Best Afternoon Tea in NYC”
Reviewed March 19, 2009

This place is fabulous for tea. Very glitzy and formal. A perfect traditional setting for tea. The service is wonferful, the staff are so friendly. The quality of the tea is perfect and more importantly the guitarist is a lovely compliment to tea time. I am a regular and would certainly go back in a heartbeat!

“A Great Treat in the city !!”
Reviewed January 17, 2009

My friend and I attended the high tea during Christmas season. As the previous reviewer states, very high class and relaxing.

I did feel that the food given was rather small compared to a tea house in my area that I frequent. The tea itself was delish and the sandwichs were a bit bland, I agree. However for 2 people with champagne paying $155 it should be over-the top. The atmosphere was wonderful and we also had a harp player. The hotel was decorated for the holiday seemed out of a postcard.

I would tell those to try the experience just once as it is a real treat. Do not expect to get full on the food, enjoy the atmosphere and relax. I don't think I would go back again but overall a neat experience in the city that I am glad I tried.

“Christmas High Tea at Astor Court”
Reviewed December 27, 2008

Picture it. Afternoon tea the day before Christmas Eve: Astor Court's gorgeous room, attentive service, silver, crystal, candles - perfect scones served at perfect temperature with perfect Devonshire cream. A perfect launch to a New York City Christmas with my elderly mom.

Only one tiny complaint - the savories were out of balance with the magnificent sweets. There were many more sweets than savories. (To some like me, that is no problem.) The tea sandwiches were a bit bland and lacked variety. But that won't stop us from going back.

Located in the St Regis Hotel on Fifth Ave, Astor Court is a very special adult place to go when you need to feel like a special adult, or want to make someone else feel special. 'Adult' is the key word here.

Splurge on the champagne offered with the tea! You deserve it! It's Manhattan at Christmas - you can't get much better than this! After tea stroll down Fifth to take in the famous windows, Saint Pat's, the fabulous Rockefeller tree - all just steps away.

And please smile at the Astor Court staff - they deal with crabby self-absorbed people all day. You might be surprised how warm the response will be.
