We were visiting NYC and chose New WonJo based on reviews and it was sensational. Where we live in Maryland there's a large Korean population and we're big fans of the cuisine. We've enjoyed lots of galbi (marinated beef short ribs), but what we had that night was far and away the best I've ever tasted ... tender, juicy and flavorful. At the many Korean restaurants we've visited at home, the tables all had gas grills, but here the cooking was done over charcoal that was loaded into each table grill. Wow! To start our meal, we shared tender shrimp shumai dumplings, edamame and a California roll. All were superb. Banchan (the little side dishes) were good, too. But the galbi took everything to another level of excellence. All the female servers were helpful and charming. What a fun place! We will definitely go back next time in NYC.
