Description: Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood. Lover. From the market to your plate, we've spent nearly a hundred years perfecting our seafood dishes. Every morning, the chef goes to the New Fulton Fish Market to personally pick the day's freshest seafood. Everything from lobster to different kinds of fish is hand-picked for the best flavor and freshness. We're most famous for our oysters though, with over 30 different varieties on any given day. Have your dishes prepared minimally, or choose to have your meal in the form of a po' boy. Whatever floats your boat. To go with your Oysters, our extensive wine list has over 400 wines by the glass or bottle, 55 of which are priced under $38. We love sharing our great seafood, so we like to keep everything, including our prices, accessible. Come in for our Happy Hours (menu on website), where you and your friends can pick up some fresh food and drinks at prices so good it's fishy! Across our restaurant we have more than 450 tables across two dining rooms. Traditional experiences are supplemented by our saloon, which features a large bar. Instead, you could choose to sit at Oyster Bay, where you can watch your Oysters being shucked. The Grand Central Oyster Bar has always been a social experience, bustling with buzz, activity and a rich history. There is truly nowhere else like it!

“A dissapointment”
Reviewed December 24, 2012

We were looking forward to dinner at the Grand Central Oyster Bar...and were less than overwhelmed with the food and, especially, the service. It took 15 minutes after we were seated for the waiter to come to our table. His demeanor was curt and disinterested. We waited another 10 minutes for our beverages to arrive. After we ordered, we waited another 45 minutes for our food to come out. My wife's fried clams had many pieces of shell in them, and my shrimp came with tartar sauce only. No cocktail sauce. The only time our waiter checked back with us was when we had finished our meal. Dirty dishes were thrown into tubs in front of us only to sit until someone came to collect them. Management seemed more concerned with turning tables than servicing customers, and it felt much more like a food factory than a restaurant. Not a pleasant experience at all.

“Leave it to the waiter- They know their stuff”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

The variety of Oysters available was bewildering!
But don't be overwhelmed, tell the waiter the number and size of oysters you prefer, and they will magically appear on a tray with crushed ice very very quickly. Important note: Don't be afraid to try the whole fish, they are done to perfection! Reasonably priced too!

“Always good!”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

The restaurant is small, nice tables and linens. The staff is friendly and efficient. They are known for their lobster dinner at $26.95. You can't beat the price for a bowl of clam chowder, good bread, steamed, succulant lobster and a huge baked potato.

“Oysters and a secret”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

The Oyster Bar In Grand Central offers an incredible range of really fresh fish and seafood, prepared perfectly. It's a classic in New York City, and many people come just for the Oysters and their clam chowder; however don't miss the daily specials - many of which are very affordable.

Most visitors to the Oyster Bar enter through the main doors on the lower level. Often the line of folks waiting for a table can literally spill out into the station itself, so here's a little tip. When you walk in don't go for a table - turn right and walk in the Saloon. There's a small sign above the door and when you enter you'll be in a separate dining area. It's generally not as busy as the main dining room -- often without a reservation you'll be seated quickly!

“Loved the Oysters loved the Chowder”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

Good Manhatten chowder, (tomato based) and the Oysters were really good too. Especially liked the smaller ones from the West Coast Shigoku and Otter Cive were my favourite, not so large and meaty as the East Coast ones (no expert here either mind you) Service was gruff and friendly and the Niçoise salad with Tuna was excellent
