we ate there every night and they got to know us. the staff were so friendly and they always topped up our glasses with out us having to go to the bar. they were accommodating to my kids 10 and 14 and were more than happy to have them in the bar (at a table). good prices and amazing food... their Manhattan blows your socks off!!! its not a rowdy bar but has a great atmosphere. highly highly recommend.

“Pleasant night spot. Great Chicken. Great Pastrami.”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Arriving late in the evening from the west coast for our first night ever in NY City we cautiously chose this restaurant near our hotel, quite close to the Empire State Building. We were not disappointed. The crowd was mostly mostly business people in their 30s and 40s, so we were the older generation but the atmosphere was pleasant, the wait staff friendly and native Irish. I found it charming. I ordered the pastrami sandwich described as being on thick rye bread. I even asked if the bread was "thick" and was assured that it was. It wasn't. It was normal. However, the pastrami was "melt-in- your-mouth tender. Easily the best pastrami I've ever eaten. My husband ordered fried chicken which I expected to be a mistake in an Irish pub but it was delicious. Better than any chicken we ate when visiting southern states that all claim their southern fried chicken sets the standard. Either hose southerners haven't been to New York.City or we had very bad luck on those trips. So I would certainly go here again when in the neighborhood.

“Excellent food”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

I ate here one night with my wife and daughter having previously tried, and disliked, the Playwright pub a few doors away. The bar was spacious and a lot less crowded than the Playwright.

The food here was excellent and without doubt, the best home cooked style meal I ate in New York. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the prices were reasonable enough.

We were staying at the Comfort Inn who give you a voucher for 20% off your food in the Playwright but they have a compulsory service charge of 15%. My advice would be to eat in O'Reilly's for the better food, better service and better prices.

“A hidden treasure”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

We were staying in the Comfort Inn, just across the street, and chose O'Reilly's at random on the first day, just for a drink and a light bite. Good choice! We ended up in there, at some point, pretty much every day of our holiday, even if just for a quick drink (the Kamikazes went down well, especially during Happy Hour), before heading to the shops again. Staff were really friendly (as were the locals), and the food was plentiful and well-priced. Loved it :)

“Fantastic !”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

O'Reilly's is a brilliant place to relax with a drink and enjoy some good New York Irish hospitality. The food is excellent, cooked fresh to order and never disappoints. The staff are friendly, welcoming and we felt they were friends by the time we left.... We cant wait to go back !
