Description: The Cupping Room Cafe was established in 1977. It was originally a wholesale coffee establishment. Different blends of coffee were brewed and tasted by perspective customers. This act of blending and tasting different coffees is called cupping - hence the name The Cupping Room. The coffee tasting went so well that the owners decided to change the name from The Coffee Connection to The Cupping Room Cafe. They also decided to open the back of the store and sell coffee and pie to the local artists. The building hosting The Cupping Room is a landmark building. It was the first "tall" building in SoHo and is more than 100 years old. The high tin ceilings, hard wood floors, pot-belly stove and exposed brick walls are all part of the original setting. The Cupping Room was a home for artists and locals. Today it is still a neighborhood place where you can see the locals and the famous come together in our homey environment.

This was our go-to spot for breakfast on our recent 2 week NY trip. Big love for their pancakes special - served with fruit, nuts and yoghurt - although my partner couldn't go past the waffles or french toast topped with fruit & ice-cream. Great coffee, friendly service, generous serves. We also ended up coming here for our Xmas dinner - fixed price for 4 courses, no rush to move us on so we stretched it out with a great bottle of Spanish Rioja - great atmosphere and delicious food.

Went to this place in New Years, was a pre fixed five course type of dinner, the food was delicious, and although it was a little slow service due to the amount of people we end up loving Andre service, he was extra special. Music was perfect too. A little more expensive but totally worth it.

Two visits in 3 days are a definite sign that the Cupping Room Cafe are getting it right.
We initially ate as a family, with 3 teens this isn't as easy as you might think, and all had exactly what we wanted, the Cobb Salad shone but Butternut Squash with Pomegranate deserves a mention too.
Service was swift and charming.
We returned as a weary couple after having been teenaged out on New Years Day and sat at the bar for a couple of restorative gins, we were looked after and entertained by Martin who was as knowledgable about Uk football as he was about gin, strange but true and highly recommended!

Stopped in on Saturday afternoon and it was crowded but 6 of us were seated within 30 minutes. While waiting, we ordered drinks at the bar and I told the bartender there was something stuck on my glass and he told me not worry- it was on the outside! We ended up carrying the drinks to the table and I showed the server that my drink glass had the lip prints of at least 10 people around the rim. She took it away, brought me another one and we ordered. The food was good as we ordered a variety of dishes:omelette, eggs benedict, burgers, and salad. But breakfast food was the best. At the end of the meal, the server brought us 2 large desserts to share as consolation for the dirty glass. It was a nice gesture and the desserts were great and everyone was happy in the end even though I had to get grossed out by a dirty glass.

Had a good, typical American breakfast here. Staff is very friendly and service is at light speed. Almost too quick for a European who doesn't mind lingering a bit longer at the table.
