This is a rare event as well as dining experience. Pre-planning is worth it if not annoying. Hard to get a table at this hot spot. 14-course tasting menu is all you can get here, unless you sit at the bar. And it's pricey. $225/person without wine. That said, it was a unique culinary adventure. 3 1/2 hours flew by as courses came with proud descriptions by each of its creators, head waitperson perfect. Attentive but not intrusive. From oysters to sun chokes, to celery root to beef tartare, duck. All memorable, especially the sauces. Fresh, sweet, bright. Okay, the salad guy and sommelier were a little gimmicky. But, all in all, this is a once in a lifetime must dine.

Kudos to Kevin and his front of the house staff.

New York City has no shortage of outstanding restaurants and my wife and I try new ones on each trip. While Per Se and Le Bernadin are still on our bucket list, our recent dinner at 11 Madison Park was a dining experience that is as good as it gets.

The multi-course tasting menu (there were 14 items on ours) celebrates the local farms of New York state. Before starting our meal, each of the four of us picked a taste "theme" ranging from cranberry to maple. These themes were incorporated later into one of the courses. American cuisine to the core, one course had us making our own picnic lunch, complete with basket and condiments, and sandwiches containing the best little pastrami squares that I have ever tasted. Other courses featured beef, cheese, seafood, fruit, and vegetables. The piece de resistance was a sliced duck breast that was completely scrumptious. The deserts included an incredible baked Alaska portion, and chocolate-covered pretzels and cookies.

Food presentation resembled a refined theatrical production and while we patronized this restaurant for well over four hours, we found the pace to be relaxed rather than unnecessarily slow. Decor is modern and quite attractive. Ambient noise is quite low for a busy New York restaurant.

Everyone at our table concluded that if this was our final meal on earth we would have checked out feeling completely fulfilled with gigantic smiles on our faces. You will leave 11 Madison Park with a much lighter wallet but dining in this style with food of this quality is easily worth the 225 dollar per person price tag.

Yes you've already read in the other reviews... 20 course tasting menu last about 3 hours. Expensive, yes... but real value for money if you like great food. Simply fantastic experience, and that is what you are paying for... it is an experience, yes maybe a couple of the dishes didn't work for me, but others were sensational. The service, not stuffy and traditional, interactive, relaxed yet superbly trained and professional. Looking around the room , everyone had a smile on their face,, just great to watch and participate. Ask the server anything, they could answer and if not they would go and ask the chef, and report back. Simply a team at the top of their game.
If you have flexibility just book on open table, if not get on the phone 28 days in advance.
I will not spoil the surprises, of which there were many, just adds to the magic of the experience.
Just once, you have to visit this restaurant.

So much has already been said I won't repeat it but I have to say the total experience was amazing and something I am not likely to forget. Although the food was great the total experience from the staff to the room was amazing. It was so much fun. Everything was fabulous. I would certainly return some time in the future. I loved the NYC on a plate experience and although Le Bernardin had some more amazing dishes the experience did not live up to EMP.

We all loved it so much.....Thank you
