In the amazing neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, this is the best place for a great burger and shake! Don't forget to buy some onion rings, they are mazing!

My daughter and I made a special trip to this restaurant during a vacation to NYC in July 2012. I had read the great reviews on Trip Advisor and was eager to try it. The service was not particularly warm and welcoming, even though the restaurant wasn't super busy. When I cut my burger in half, it was VERY rare (bloody and cool to the touch) even though I had ordered it medium well. The blood had also soaked into the bun, making it very unappetizing. I sent the burger back, and the same burger was returned to me (i.e. cut in half with all the toppings scraped off!). Seriously? The burger should have been re-fired from scratch. We have been to many gourmet burger restaurants, and this was definitely below average.

So good burgers.... and I am not even mentioning the fries !
The Marco's is ma favorite with pesto and Ciabatta bread ! But you have so many different combinations that it is hard to know which is the best !
Small, really cute and well decorated this place is great for a good burger moment !

If you are looking for a regular simple cheese burger with fries then this isn't the place for you. Also stay away from their "special lunch offer" (burger/chips/beer), not worth it...

Now take a sit, open the menu (probably about 60-70 burgers long), and be adventurous: they are all delicious (almost depending on your taste obviously). And don't forget to order a milkshake with your burger! If you are really, really, really starving (or want to share) then go for a classic baked potatoes (with sour cream, bacon, cheese,...). They didn't use to have fries before so even when they added it on the menu I never really gave it a try.

The place itself is pretty cool as well (California signs on the walls, surfboards hanging, etc) and not too big so don't miss the entrance. Nice atmosphere with friends, family, or even alone for burger lovers! A must try for anyone looking for a great (original) burger!

PS:
- My personal favorite (I like it big, very big, fat and juicy) is the Slick Willie`s (rare of course) with a Black&White milkshake, no side.
- If you don't like / can't eat red meat (you don't know what you are missing!) then the chicken churascos is actually very tasty as well.
- You can get it delivered but it never really tasted the same.

I've been there a couple of times, the first time by myself, following the advice of a friend of mine, and the second time with a couple of friends of mine. The spot is not easy to be found, as the narrow entrance on the 9th Ave. is squeezed between two other shops, and the room is pretty long and narrow. They have tons of different hamburgers: I felt in love with the a poivre hamburgers, which is basically cooked in a black-pepper sauce, and the meat is really yummy. All hamburgers are served on the plate, with the ingredients apart: it is you that have to "mount" the hamburger. I also took the black&white milk shake, which was very good: it is hard to digest together with the hamburger, but it's definitely worth to try. They also have good french fries, which do not come with the hamburger, but must be ordered as a side. The décor is really nice (the menu is handwritten also on a blackboard, drinks are served in jam jars, and fries in small silver baskets). It's definitely a place I will suggest to my friends when visiting NYC.
