“Respectable Lunch Place”
Reviewed April 13, 2011

It's more of an experience than a restaurant. Food was decent, fresh and tasty. Nothing fancy or inspired, but a respectable lunch place.

“Dependable lunch spot”
Reviewed November 1, 2010

This place is tucked away on Greene St, just south of Houston. I've only had lunch here and have never had difficulty getting a table (can't say how busy it gets for dinner). The room is quite large with a small bar and store at the front selling a range of Asian goods (tea, soy sauce etc). It's counter service at lunchtime and I found the service to be efficient and courteous. The food is all cooked fresh, and I've had various things on the menu - dim sum, Malaysian curry noodles, pad thai, scallion pancakes. All of it was good, but nothing was truly outstanding or memorable. The prices are reasonable for the neighborhood and I'd recommend it as a dependable place for good (if unremarkable) Asian food.

“Great Asian Lunch Place in Cute Soho Location”
Reviewed April 12, 2009

Kelley & Ping is a terrific lunch spot tucked away on a quiet block just south of Houston. This adorable restaurant and bar serves up traditional Asian cuisine in a charming Soho townhouse. I am not 100% sure if waiter service is available, but the quick order counter helps satisfy the steady stream of lunch customers vying for a shot to order some Pho.

The menu consists mainly of noodle dishes, ranging from Thai Pad See Ew to Malaysian Curried Noodle Soup. Some rice-centric entrees and various salads balance out the remaining options. The Sesame Chicken Salad was marinated in a substantial amount of sesame oil, which packed a salty bite to the dish. The Green Leaf Lettuce salad contained bitter watercress, tender fried calamari, and seaweed in soy sesame dressing. This seasoning was also salty and flavorful. However, sampling the two at once was over-powering. Lastly, Asian vegetables are served antipasto style each day. The Bok Choy with Garlic Sauce, Spicy Tofu, and Crisp Asian Broccoli were all delicious but sadly served below room temperature. The Mango Iced Tea was a delicious treat packed with mango puree. On a whole, everything I sampled felt light-bodied and easy to enjoy.

Kelley & Ping is a terrific place for a quick, flavorful meal.
